Survivors Feted at Weitzman
bout 80 area Holocaust survivors gathered on June 4 at the Weitzman
National Museum of American Jewish History to celebrate Holocaust
Survivor Day.

The program featured museum tours, a kosher luncheon, klezmer music and
dancing. The day was commemorated with a proclamation from Philadelphia
Mayor Jim Kenney and supported by multiple area Jewish organizations.

Locally, the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia allocated $305,000 to

organizations that provide survivors with food, rent money and other necessities.

And Jewish Family and Children’s Service’s Holocaust Survivor Support
Program helps survivors age safely and independently in their homes. It works
with survivors, their families and caregivers to maintain a high quality of life,
connection to resources, individualized support and a strong sense of community.

Organizations from around the world held simultaneous events as part of JCC
Krakow’s Holocaust Survivor Day project. ■
