adoring, doting, loving, Poppop to Jordyn

Bernie was an accomplished orthopedic sur-
geon, chief, teacher, mentor, family man, pi-
lot, captain, expert whistler, crab-picker,

BAIDER BARSHAK
Stanley Baider...Stan, Son, Dad, Pops,
Sonny, Papa Sonny, Uncle Boo, Stan the
Man…a loving and devoted family man left
this world on Father's Day, June 21, 2020.

Whatever name he went by, he touched
everyone he met because he made them feel
special. Stan was born in Philadelphia Pa are
resided there his entire life. He was a proud
U.S. Air Force Veteran and served the coun-
try he loved in Korea. He had a strong work
ethic starting his career as a printer and
eventually moving into a leadership position
at the former Chilton Printing Co. He later
opened up a donut and coffee shop called
Sonny's Academy Plaza Donuts. If that
wasn't enough, he had a retirement job with
Holy Redeemer Hospital in Huntingdon Val-
ley, Pa for over two decades, working in
transportation for therapy services and was
known as "Stan the Man". He enjoyed sports,
he enjoyed the casinos (A.C. & Las Vegas)
and loved his dogs Ching and Kwai. He loved
the beauty of nature and appreciated every
day as a gift. The favorite foods everyone
knew he loved…hot dogs, corn on the cob,
lemon meringue pie and watermelon. Family
was always everything to him. Stan was ad-
ored and survived by his devoted wife of 60
years, Marion; children Larry and his wife
Debbie; Scott and his wife Holly; grandchil-
dren Alex, Kryra, Andrea, Dan, Ashley, Joey,
Mark, Garrett and great-grand-daughter Mag-
gie. He also leaves behind a twin sister,
Roberta Herring and Brother-in-law, Jack. His
eldest sister that he also loved dearly, Selma
just passed last year. Stan also had so many
nieces, nephews and friends that he loved so
dearly. Stan and his wife Marion were both
members of Krakauer-Yampolier and Leisure
Timers at Del Air Landing. The family kindly
asks that any donations be made to Holy Re-
deemer Hospice and Marlyn Fein Chapter,
Fox Chase Cancer Center. A Life Celebration
will be planned for a future date to honor this
truly special human being.

Marlee W. Barshak (nee Waldman), passed
away peacefully on September 13, 2020.

Born and raised in West Philadelphia and a
long-time resident of Lafayette Hill, she was
the co-owner of Touch of Class Gift Shop. A
graduate of Lower Merion High School and
Harcum College, she will be sadly missed by
many loving family and friends. Wife of the

BERENHOLZ Dois Berenholz (nee Gartman). Beloved wife
of Sal Berenholz for nearly 70 years, mother
of Rochelle (Steven), Deborah Robin (Mark),
and Ellen, and loving grandmother of six and
great-grandmother of two beautiful children,
passed away at home early in the morning of
August 21, 2020. She was deeply loved by
her family and friends. She was a woman of
great creativity, intelligence, and compassion.

Born and raised in Philadelphia, Doris went to
Philadelphia High School for Girls and stud-
ied at the Philadelphia Museum School, now
University of the Arts. A gifted artist and
draftsperson, her love of and talent for art
were only matched by her accomplished
culinary skills. An exceptional homemaker
who loved to entertain, she worked along-
side her husband in their manufacturing busi-
ness for 50 years. She was extraordinarily
generous and will be dearly missed. A
graveside funeral was held for close family.

CASH BERSHAD
Jack R. Bershad, 90, born May 20, 1930,
died August 20, 2020, son of William and
Anne (nee Goodman) and brother of Edward
(deceased). A man of integrity, charm, intelli-
gence and kindness, Jack is survived by his
loving and devoted wife, Helen (nee Jay), his
sons, Thomas, Daniel and Robert, his daugh-
ters-in-law, Marjorie and Laurie, and his
grandchildren, Sandra, Adam and Rebecca.

Born in Depression-era Philadelphia, Jack
graduated from Central High School, earned
a Bachelor of Science degree from Temple
University in 1951, and in 1954 received a
Doctor of Jurisprudence from Harvard Law
School, which he attended on a full scholar-
ship, and served in the United States Army
from 1954 to 1956. Jack served as Law Clerk
to Judge Harry Kalodner of the United States
Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit from
1956 to 1957. In 1958, directly from a year
as staff counsel for the Small Business Ad-
ministration, he joined Blank & Rudenko,
later named Blank Rome, as its 16th lawyer
in the Commercial Department, which he
later led. He was admitted to partnership in
1964, served as chair of the firm from 1990
to 1999, and retired in 2003. Jack was an
avid lover of fine arts and culture, and a
strong proponent of his Jewish heritage and
the nation of Israel. A valued advisor and
counselor, he served in key board positions
with many organizations, including the Phil-
adelphia Museum of Art, the Middle East For-
um, the Philadelphia Chamber Music Society
and the American Associates, Ben-Gurion
University of the Negev, which raises funds
and awareness for the University and the
Negev Desert across the United States. In lieu
of flowers, contributions may be made in the

Anne Cash nee Eisen passed away on August
26,2020 (6th of Elul). It was a Graveside ser-
vice on August 28,2020. She was preceded in
death by her husband, Carl Cash, her mother
Leah Singer Eisen, and her siblings Dr. Sam
Eisen, Charles (Kivy) Eisen and her sister Es-
ther Eisen Siegel. Anne is survived by her
children Cheryl Cash-Linietsky, Rabbi Levi
and Debbie Cash, her adored grandchildren
Kalman and Rivka Cash, Menachem Cash,
Kalman Linietsky, Gavriel Cash, and Ezra
Cash. She is also survived by the apple of her
eye her great grandson Yoel Simcha Cash
who she had the bracha of being able to at-
tend his Bris. Anne is also survived by her
neices, nephews and great neices and neph-
ews. Special thanks to her nephew Marc Eis-
en, her great niece Stephanie Eisen and her
neice and nephew Marci and Paul Turer and
their children and grandchildren. Anne was a
long time employee of the Federal Govern-
ment working in military sales. She was a
lifetime member of Hadassah. Anne spent
much time voluntering at Klein Life in NE
Phila and had many leadership roles in vari-
ous clubs at Klein Life. Anne was a doer, a
leader and always busy doing kindness for
others, especially for her family and those
she choose to be part of her family. May her
memory be for a blessing. Donations in her

Clara Bylock (nee Brody) passed away
September 14, 2020. Beloved wife of the late
Nathan Bylock. Clara is survived by her
daughter Gail Berger, her grandson Matthew
and his wife Kimberly, and was “GG” to her
great-grandchildren Noah, Jonas, and Dan-
ica. Clara is also survived by her daughter
Sheila Privor and her husband Harvey, her
grandchildren, Lois Privor-Dumm (Greg
Dumm), Cheri Privor, Michele (Tony) Leone,
Patrick Foley, Brian (Kim) Privor, and great-
granddaughter, Calla. Nicole Nelson was
Clara’s dedicated and devoted health aide.

Clara worked as an Administrator at Brown-
ing Road Medical Center for many years. It
was through her dedication and tireless ef-
forts, along with the doctors on staff, that
made it such a wonderful testing/medical

CLARKE Barbara Maxine Clarke (nee Stern), August
27, 2020 at the age of 66 at Bryn Mawr Hos-
pital in Bryn Mawr, PA. Barbara is survived
by daughter Michelle Edwards (Jonathan),
cherished grandchildren Declan and Zoe Ed-
wards, her siblings Faith Wind (Sheldon) of
Florida and Richard Stern (Judith) of Virginia,
and husband Steven Clarke. Born May 26,
1954 in Washington DC, Barbara was the
daughter of the late Irving and Janet Stern.

She was raised and educated in Silver Spring,
MD. She obtained a BA in Early Childhood
Education at University of Maryland and an
MS in Library & Information Science at
Drexel University. Barbara lived in Newtown
Square, PA for many years before moving to
Glen Mills, PA. Barbara was a loving family
member and good friend to many; she en-
joyed being with her cats, reading, and at-
tending the theater. As a young adult, Bar-
bara was an avid hiker and enjoyed spelunk-
ing and international folk dancing. She
worked as head librarian at Berean Institute
in Philadelphia before being disabled by Mul-
tiple Sclerosis (MS) at the age of 32. Bar-
bara was a very active member of Temple
Sholom in Broomall, serving for a time as
sisterhood president, and as the Temple lib-
rarian for many years. She was also very in-
volved in the S'myelin MS support group in
West Chester, PA and was the S’myelin MS
Walk Team Captain for many years. Barbara
enjoyed the adaptive sports of cycling and
rowing, competing twice in the Bayada
Regatta. Later in life, Barbara was stricken
with multiple cancers, which contributed to
her death at too young an age. Graveside ser-
vices are scheduled on Sunday, August 30th

FELGOISE DRUCKMAN
Naomi Druckman (Matusow), 98 years of
age, died on Sept 9th, in her Lafayette Hill
residence. She was the beloved wife of the
late Leon S. Druckman. Mother of Jan (Ed-
ward) Tannebaum and Hope (Ted Kohler)
Druckman. In addition, Naomi is survived by
her three grandchildren, Daniel Tannebaum
(Rachel), Andrew Kohler, and Laura Kohler
(Branden Buehler) and her three loving Great-
Granddaughters- Eliana and Marin Tan-
nebaum, and Zoe Buehler. Naomi, " Sis”, as
she was known and called by her cherished
family, was predeceased by her adoring par-
ents, Harry and Ida (Richman) Matusow, of
Germantown and her late brother Benjamin
(“Bunny”) Matusow. She is survived by her
cherished and adoring sisters and brother,
Betty Perlmutter (Jack), Rene (Marvin)
Presser, and Josh Matusow, as well as her
nieces and nephews whom she loved so
dearly and great nieces and nephews as well.

Naomi was an independent woman until the
last 2 years of her life, when a stroke dis-
abled her to a great extent and her quality of
life declined. She loved family, playing bridge
weekly, reading, and was proficient in fin-
ances up to recently. Her greatest moments
were times spent with her sisters and broth-
er having their lunches together. She treas-
ured her times spent with her Great- Grand-
daughters at her residence. Naomi will be
forever loved and missed by those of us as a
great Mother, Sister, Daughter, Grandmom,

Arthur A. Feldman passed away peacefully on
Sunday, September 6, 2020 at St. Joseph
Manor in Meadowbrook, PA. He was 91. Ar-
thur was a resident of Jenkintown, PA. In his
earlier years he was involved with his family’s
textile business. In his later years he worked
as a property manager. Born in Philadelphia,
PA on December 18, 1928, he was a son of
the late Charles C. and Eva (Dlugach) Feld-
man. He was the beloved husband of the late
Irene C. (Goldstein) Feldman. Surviving is his
loving family including two sons, SONNY
(STEVEN RUBIO), MICHAEL M.; two grand-
sons, DANIEL and ADAM; as well as many

dear Arthur Havsy. She received her Master’s
in Education from the University of
Pennsylvania and taught at Elkins Park Juni-
or High School and then received her law de-
gree from Temple University Law School and
practiced Family Law for more than 25 years
and was still doing Mediations while dealing
with her sickness! She chose to live with Ac-
ceptance rather than Denial! Janet was ex-
tremely proud of her memoir, "Reinventing
Myself" which details her inspirational life and

Gusta Fuhrmann, 98, passed away on
September 1, 2020. She was predeceased by
her husband, Ady in January of 2005 and her
only son, Bernie in July 2002. She will be
missed by her grandson Martin, her grand-
daughter Amy and husband Brad, her grand-
son Kevin and his wife Christine and their
daughters, Hannah and Hailey, her brother
Ari in FL, and her daughter in law Paula. She
has several nieces and nephews in CA, FL,
Washington DC, and Israel. Gusta, a Holo-
caust survivor, was born in Rumania and be-
came an apprentice to her father, a tailor. It
was this vocation that saved her family from
a concentration camp. Instead they were
forced to make clothing for German officers
and their wives in exchange for food and
shelter. She and her family survived the war,
she married Ady, their son was born in an
American camp in Salzburg, Austria, and they
came to the US in 1951. They were very act-
ive in the Association of Jewish Holocaust
Survivors, and Gusta traveled with her hus-
band, brother, and Chayale Ashe as they per-
formed for Yiddish Theater all over the world.

Gusta spent her life devoted to her family and
we will all miss her loving attention and gen-
erosity. Donations should be made to the

GARFINKEL Marian Garfinkel of Philadelphia, PA died
after a protracted illness on August 28, 2020
at the age of 88. Marian Garfinkel was an
early researcher in the field of complement-
ary medicine, showing that yoga could be
used to treat and possibly cure a variety of
hand injuries resulting from repetitive use.

She studied with B. K. S. Iyengar for over 40
years, making annual trips to yoga centers in
India, France, California and Michigan. As a
result of her contact with Iyengar, she and
her former husband Marvin Garfinkel is cred-

currently on display at the Morris Arboretum
at the University of Pennsylvania and at the
Hirschhorn Museum in Washington DC.

Garfinkel grew up in Altoona, Pennsylvania,
the youngest of four children. She taught at
Linden Hall, a prep school for girls, from
1955 to 1957. After the death of her first hus-
band she married Marvin Garfinkel in 1963.

She studied art at the Barnes Foundation un-
der Violette de Mazia, who she considered a
friend. She moved from Center City, Phil-
adelphia to Merion Station before settling at
Cobble Court in 1974. She returned to Phil-
adelphia in 1986 and lived in Center City un-
til 2016, when she was moved to an assisted
living facility in Wyncote, PA. Garfinkel is sur-
vived by her son Simson Garfinkel, and her
grand children Sonia Garfinkel, Jared
Garfinkel and Draken Garfinkel. There was a
small graveside funeral on August 30th due
to the pandemic. The family plans for a me-
morial service on August 29th, 2021. For de-
