Susan Berkowitz (nee Cler), 72 of Holland,
PA passed away with her family by her side,
on September 11th, 2018 at 12:31 am, after a
long and courageous battle against breast
cancer. Beloved wife of 54 years to Bruce
Berkowitz. Devoted mother to Kimberly Hul-
bert (Jonathan), of Mason, Ohio, and Debra
Margolis (David) of Lawrenceville, New Jer-
sey. Loving grandmother of Riley Hulbert,
Katie Hulbert, Emma Hulbert, Addy Hulbert,
Sophia Margolis and Isabella Margolis. Dear
sister-in-law to Karol and Gary Seidenberg,
Susan and Harvey Berkowitz, Robert Berkow-
itz and Harriet and Lawrence Ginsburg. Cher-
ished Aunt to 7 loved nieces and nephews,
and dear friend to countless other incredible
people. Susan left her mark on this world by
living each day to its fullest and fighting for
every day no matter the challenge. If you
were blessed to know her, you were amazed
by her loving and giving spirit and fierce loy-
alty. She adored her family as they were the
center of her universe, and her closest
friends she considered to be her family as
well. Her loss will leave a void in the hearts
of all who were privileged enough to know
and love her. Susan was a 1964 graduate of
Northeast High School in Philadelphia. She
spent the last 25 years of her life working in
commercial banking. Most recently she par-
ticipated in a clinical trial as patient zero at
the Fox Chase Cancer Center, investigating
the use of immune therapies in a search for a
cure for Metastatic Breast Cancer. Her feel-
ing was if it didn’t save her life, it was a small
price to pay if in the end it saved the life of

BRESKMAN Dorothy Breskman (nee Shepard) of Haver-
ford, PA passed away on Thursday, Septem-
ber 6, 2018. Mrs. Breskman was 92 and is
predeceased by her husband, Joseph of 64
years. She is survived by her sons, David
(Janet) of King of Prussia, PA, Ellis (Phoebe)
of Malvern, PA, and Benjamin (Cathy) of
Devon, PA; 8 grandchildren, Sarah Cosme,
Louis Breskman, Hope Stafford, Susan
Breskman, Rebecca Nimerfroh , Rachel
Breskman and William Breskman, and 5 great
grandchildren. She is pre-deceased by her
grandson, Brian Breskman. She was born in
Wilkes Barre, PA on October 25, 1925, the
only child of Belle Shepard and David Shep-
ard, and graduated from the University of
Pennsylvania in 1946. After graduating Penn,
she married Joseph Breskman who had just
returned from serving in the Pacific Rim at
the end of WWII. They promptly married and
started a family. Mrs. Breskman had many
avid interests throughout her life. She loved
the art world as both an artist and a collector.

She sculpted and made life size statues and
was passionate about art and art history. She
played tennis and was a regular on the court
well into her 60s. She had a zeal for learning
and with her extroverted personality be-
friended many. Mrs. Breskman studied astro-
logy, mysticism, the kabbalah and Reiki. An
open-minded spirit, she was accepting of all
cultures and had a fascination with all things
spiritual. Both she and her husband traveled
the world. They raised their family in Villan-
ova, PA and spent 20+ years in Palm Beach,
Florida in their twilight. Mrs. Breskman was a
resident of The Quadrangle in Haverford, PA
for the past 6 years of her life. Relatives and

COLTON Susan D. Colton, passed peacefully at her
home on August 27, 2018 surrounded by
family. Beloved wife for 51 years of Jack
Colton. Cherished mother of Michael,
Zachary, Norman and Pamela. Also survived
by grandchildren who were blessed with her
love and handmade gifts. Susan enjoyed
needle work, knitting, computer skills, cook-
ing and home repairs. She was also an avid
Ham radio operator, callsign, W2FIB. Her in-
tellect and skillful interaction with teenagers
made her a favorite math and computer sci-
ence teacher amongst students at BCIT in
Medford NJ. Susan's four year battle with
cancer is over, and she is now at peace. Her
family would like to thank everyone for their
love and support during this difficult time.

GALOWITZ Dr. Mark L. Galowitz, 74, of Harrisburg,
formally from Philadephia passed away on
Sunday, August 19, with his loving wife of 36
years at his side. Dr. Galowitz was born in
Newark, New Jersey on August 29, 1943, the
son of Herbert and Regina Galowitz. He atten-
ded Abraham Lincoln High School before en-
rolling at Pennsylvania State University in
1961. He graduated with a B.S. in secondary
education in 1965. He also attended Trenton
State College, where he received his master's
in Guidance in 1972, and Temple University,
where he earned his doctorate in 1985.Dr.

Galowitz dedicated his life to educating and
caring for young people. He began his work
in this field while still an undergraduate, as
the director of a YMCA camp. After six years
in the military, with the highest rank of cap-
tain, serving his country in Georgia, Vietnam
and Fort Dix, New Jersey, Dr. Galowitz began
teaching seventh and eighth grade social
studies in Cherry Hill, NJ., while in the army
reserves. He eventually arrived in Susque-
hanna Township High School where he was
assistant principal and then principal of the
school. He retired in 2002. Dr. Galowitz is
predeceased by his mother, father and broth-
er Steven. He is survived by his wife Lois;
brother Peter (Barbara); brother-in-law Har-
old Levy (Shari); nieces Robyn Schwartz
(Ben), Jenna Levy (Aaron), Dana Levy; neph-
ews Jonathan Levy (Sara), Howard Galowitz
(Katie), and Greg Galowitz (Stacey); great
nieces and nephews Oriana Desatnik, Caitlyn
Galowitz, Hailey Galowitz, Charlotte Levy,
Jack Galowitz, Skylar Schwartz, Rylee Galow-
itz, Zachary Schwartz, Theodore Desatnik and
Sylvan Desatnik; and the many thousands of
students he touched over his incredible ca-
reer. We will all miss his kindness, compas-
sion, honesty, selflessness and his endless

Philip E. Garber, 68, of Cherry Hill, N.J.

passes away peacefully yesterday surroun-
ded by family at Samaritan Hospice in
Voorhess, NJ. Born in Syracuse, NY in 1949,
Phil graduated from Nottingham High School
in 1967. He attended the School of Industrial
Labor Relations at Cornell University, gradu-
ating in 1971. Upon graduation from the Uni-
versity of Chicago Law School in 1974, Phil
joined the Labor Department at Wolf,
Block,Schorr and Solis Cohen in Philadelphia,
where he practiced until 2009. From 2009
until the present time, he was a partner at
Duane Morris in Philadelphia. Phil was a
member of Temple Beth Sholom in Cherry
Hill, NJ for 40 years. He contributed his time
and money to many Jewish and non-sectari-
an non-profit agencies. He is survived by his
wife Ellen, daughters Jessica (Alex) Sedler
and Amy Garber, his brother David (Joyce)
Garber and Rosalie (Lawrence) Young. Con-

Cantor Elihu Ginsberg, age 91, of Voorhees,
NJ, formerly of Plymouth Meeting, PA,
passed away on September 4, 2018. Born in
Brooklyn, NY, Elihu was a veteran of the US
Army Corps of Engineers and was stationed
in the Philippines during WWII. He earned a
BS in Electrical Engineering from CCNY and
was an engineer with RCA, GE, Burroughs
and Unisys where he retired in 1988. Eli’s
passion for music began when he was in the
Army when he would play the piano for the
USO and Red Cross, and he later sang in
barbershop quartets and various choral
groups. Cantor Ginsberg studied voice at
Temple University and Jewish liturgy and
cantorial studies at Gratz College. He began
his professional career as a part-time cantor
in 1976 at Tiferes B’nai Israel in Warrington,
PA, and after retiring from his engineering
career, he became the full-time cantor at
Suburban JCC B’Nai Aaron in Havertown, PA,
until retiring in 1992. Tiferet Bet Israel
(formerly Norristown Jewish Community
Center) in Blue Bell, PA was Eli’s second
home for more than 60 years. He helped
found the Men’s Club, served as Gabbai,
member of the Ritual Committee and held
various board positions. Elihu was a past vice
president and Patient Services Chairman of
the Philadelphia Chapter of the National He-
mophilia Foundation. He played an integral
role in the passage of the legislation estab-
lishing the PA State Hemophilia Program,
which was the first in the country and be-
came a model for a national network of He-
mophilia Treatment Centers across the
United States. He is survived by his wife, An-
nalee, daughter, Marsha (Neil) Axler and
grandsons, Brett and Michael Axler. He was
preceded in death by his son, Frank Gins-

Franklin (Frank) Goldberg, age 86, of Venice,
Florida, passed away on September 13, 2018.

He was born on January 14, 1932 in Phil-
adelphia, PA and was a devoted husband to
the late Elizabeth (nee Connolly). Frank re-
tired in 1990 as Chief Inspector of Phil-
adelphia Police and was a regular Army vet-
eran having served in Korea. Survivors in-
clude a brother, Maurice Goldberg of Phil-
adelphia, PA; his son, Michael Goldberg of
Philadelphia, PA; a daughter, Jane Quinn of
Cherry Hill, NJ and four grandchildren. Frank
was a member of the Fraternal Order of Po-
lice (Lodge #5 in Philadelphia, PA), Lodge
#126 F&A Masons in Philadelphia, PA, a life
member of the Shomrim Society in Phil-
adelphia, PA, the Police Chiefs Association of
Southeastern, PA and an honorary member
life member of the Florida Sheriffs Associ-

Sonia Laskin (nee Bradlyn) passed away
peacefully on Sunday September 16, 2018
with her family by her side. She was 93 years
old. Born October 26, 1924 in Youngstown,
OH, she was the daughter of the late David
and Della (nee Magidson) Bradlyn, and the
beloved wife of the late Sam L. Laskin, with
whom she shared 70 years of marriage. So-
nia was the loving mother of Dr. William
Laskin and Cathy Lyons (Russell Lyons) and

2018. Beloved wife of the late Edward Moses;

Florence Grant; devoted Mom Mom of
Michelle Chaitt (Steve) and Jacquelyn Moses,
adoring great-grandmother “GG Rose” of
Hayden and Emma Chaitt. Also survived by

nephews. Born in her beloved “South Philly,”
she eventually settled in Jenkintown. An avid
reader and cook, she loved making her deli-
cious briskets and famous sweet potatoes for
the extended family and friends who gathered
at her son’s house for holiday celebrations.

Her family was her world, and she will be
sadly missed by everyone. Services and In-
