RAPHAEL-SACKS Donald S. Goldstein of Plymouth Meeting,
Pennsylvania passed away at the age of 84
on Sunday, September 3, 2017. He was the
son of Jerry and Norman Goldstein. He is
survived by his beloved wife of 57 years
Ronda (Rosenberg) Goldstein; he was the be-
loved father of Abby (Goldstein) Slutsky
(Steven) and Philip S. Goldstein (Lisa Ab-
ramson); and devoted grandfather of Ross
Slutsky, Jason Slutsky, Blake Goldstein, and
Melaina Goldstein. He is also survived by his
brother, Arthur Goldstein (Robin Fisher).
Donald was born in Philadelphia and served
his country in the Korean War. He was a
businessman, but his proudest accomplish-
ments were being a wonderful husband, par-
ent, brother, grandfather and family man. He
had a zest for life and adored traveling, fine
dining and junk food, bargaining for items
that caught his eye and spending time with

Samuel "Lefty" Lapides, age 94, died on
September 14, 2017. He was a retired fur-
niture salesman who resided in Philadelphia,
PA. He was a veteran of WWII. Husband of

LOEV Iris Anita Loev (nee Kramer) 80, of Phila. Pa.,
best known as Goldie the Bunny on Sally
Starr’s Popeye Theater in the late 1950’s,
passed away in the early morning hours of
Sept. 7, 2017. She was surrounded by her
very loving family. Iris lived a life full of joy,
passion, and great love – by her, and for her.
She was a consummate performer of stage,
television and screen, working under the
stage name Iris Hunter (www.irishunter.us).
She was an artist, singer, songwriter, and
actress. Iris frequently worked with Dick
Clark, Larry Parks, Connie Francis, as well as
many others. She was 1 st runner up in the
Miss Phila. pageant 1961. She enjoyed a
multitude of activities including the water, an-
imals, coin collecting, traveling, crafts, and
above all, her family. She is survived by her
husband of 52 years and soul mate Arthur
Loev, siblings Karin Kramer Baldwin & Dr.
Barry Kramer, children Dr. Marc Loev (Toni),
Bonnie Detrick (Tom) Scott Loev (Alycia) 6
grandchildren, Aaron, Ethan, Kyle, Ryan, Ari-

20, 2017. He was a retired machinery mech-
anic who resided in Philadelphia,
Pennsylvania. He was an Air Force Veteran
of the Korean War. Son of the late Joseph

JOSEPH MARLOWE
Frank Irwin Marlowe, MD of Wynnwood PA
and Sarasota FL. A long time otolaryngolo-
gist, medical leader and teacher in Phila. died
peacefully Friday, Sept. 15 at Lankenau Hos-
pital. Born in Newark, NJ to Ann Markowitz
and Sidney Marlowe, Dr. Marlowe graduated
with a degree in Pharmacy from Rutgers Uni-
versity. He received his Medical Degree from
University of Pittsburgh, graduating with
honors in 1963. While there he was commis-
sioned in the US Navy Medical Corps as Lt.
Commander. This was followed by his intern-
ship and specialty training at the Naval Hos-
pital in Phila. leading to appointment as Chief
of the Ear, Nose and Throat Dept. and Head
of the Residency Training Program. Dr. Mar-
lowe served 8 years active duty and contin-
ued his naval career in the Reserves, eventu-
ally retiring after 30 yrs. of service with the
rank of Naval Captain and Consultant to the
Surgeon General of the Navy. Following his
active duty service he went into private prac-
tice cofounding Wolfson-Marlowe Asso-
ciates. He served as President of the
Medical/Dental Staff and Chair-man of the
Dept. of Otolaryngology at the Medical Col-
lege of Pennsylvania and Presbyterian Hos-
pital at the University of Pennsylvania Medic-
al Center. In 1980 he received The Honors
award of the American Academy of
Otolarngology Head and Neck Surgery. Dr.
Marlowe joyfully trained residents from Uni-
versity of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia College
of Osteopathic Medicine and Drexel Uni-
versity College of Medicine. He started a Fel-
lowship that trained doctors from all over the
world establishing life long relationships as a
mentor and teacher. He was elected Presid-
ent of the Philadelphia Society of the Dept. of
Facial Plastic Surgery and the Pennsylvania
Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck
Surgery. He completed his career as Profess-
or of the Dept. of Otolaryngology at Drexel
University College of Medicine. Dr. Marlowe
received numerous awards. He was inducted
into the AOA Medical Honor Society in 1962.
Multiple times he was the recipient of the
Golden Apple Teaching Award and he re-
ceived the Chapel of the Four Chaplans Le-
gion of Honor Award. He is survived by his
wife of 60 years, Myrna; his sons Andrew
(Jeanne) and Scott (Susan) and his daughter
Mychele; he was the beloved grandfather of 7
grandchildren, Jacob, Robert, Isaac, Alexan-
der, Fiona, Lila and Alexis, all who will miss
his wonderful bear hugs. Friends and relat-
ives were invited to Services Monday at 1
P.M. at Main Line Reform Temple, 410 Mon-
togomery Ave., Wynnwood, PA. Interment at
West Laurel Hill.
