MILLER Jack Miller, former Vice President of Meat,
Deli & Seafood at Food Fair/Pantry Pride
Stores died Tuesday, October 8, 2019 from
complications of lung cancer & Parkinson’s
disease at Del Ray Hospital in Florida at the
age of 90. Jack Miller, the son of John and
Sarah Miller, was born in Harrisburg, PA. He
was a graduate of John Harris High School,
class of 1947. He met his first wife and the
mother of his 4 children, Pauline (nee Pruss),
in 1949. They got engaged in 1951. Mar-
riage plans were placed on hold when he was
drafted to the U.S. Army during the Korean
War. He received many honors during his
service and upon discharge he married Pau-
line in 1953. He worked at Food Fair/Pantry
Pride Stores first as an apprentice meat cut-
ter advancing to V.P. of Meat, Deli & Sea-
food over a 32-year period of service. He pur-
chased and operated a Prime Meat retail
store in Warminster, PA with family for many
years. His 1 st wife Pauline died of cancer at
age 61 in 1993. He subsequently married
Betty Sacks, also from Harrisburg, PA in
1995. During their 14 years of marriage, they
lived both in Harrisburg and Florida until her
death in 2009. He then lived in Boca Raton,
Florida full time where he spent 8 years with
a close friend and companion, Elaine
Tischler. Jack was an avid golfer, coin col-
lector and sports fan. He was a member of
Beth Am Congregation in Boca Raton, FL;
Chisuk Emuna Congregation in Harrisburg,
PA; Beth Shalom Synagogue in Elkins Park,
PA and for many years at Blue Ridge Coun-
try Club in Harrisburg, PA. He is prede-
ceased by his sister Helen Stadd (Mort),
brother Leo Miller (Rose) both from Bal-
timore, MD. He is survived by 4 children: Jef-
frey (Dr. Janice) Miller of Pikesville, MD;
Dean (Donna) Miller of Newtown, PA; Sandra
(Michael) Moncada of Doylestown, Pa; and
Eric Miller of Boca Raton, Florida. Pop-pop
Jack had great love and affection for his 9
grandchildren: Harris, Paulina, Alexandria,
Jordan, Parker, Reid, Hayden, Jake and
Jared. Jack is also survived by many nieces
and nephews. Arrangements are under the
care of the Hetrick-Bitner Funeral Home,
3125 Walnut Street, Harrisburg, PA 17109.

POLEN MITNICK
Lawrence R. Mitnick, 86, of Ft. Lauderdale,
Florida, passed away peacefully in his sleep
on Wednesday, October 16, 2019. Born
March 1, 1933 to Carl T. and Margaret
(Greenfield) Mitnick, Mr. Mitnick was raised
in Collingswood, NJ, and was graduated from
Collingswood High School and Princeton
University. After college, he joined his father
in a homebuilding business primarily en-
gaged in the construction of single family
housing developments in South Jersey’s At-
lantic and Cape May Counties. In a career
spanning more than five decades, Mr. Mit-
nick was involved in the development of
more than 5,000 homes, including Green-
sward in Cherry Hill and Tranquility in North
Cape May, among many others. He served on
the Executive Committee for the National As-
sociation of Home Builders, one of the
nation’s largest trade associations. Always a
charitable and giving person, Mr. Mitnick
donated his time, money and energies to
many worthwhile causes. He was the first Big
Brother in Atlantic County, helping to create a
better life for four fatherless boys. He served
as Chairman of Fundraising for the Federa-
tion of United Jewish Appeal and represen-
ted his region in several leadership missions
to Israel. To his core, Larry, as he was widely
known, was a kind and gentle soul, always
supportive, accepting and encouraging of his
family, friends, colleagues and community.

His word and his honor meant everything to
him and he led by his deeds and actions. The
consummate optimist, he was blessed with
an excellent sense of humor, a keen wit and a
love of music. He often serenaded his family
and friends with his banjo or ukulele at gath-
erings or amused them with one of his
groan-worthy puns. In his retirement, he and
his wife enjoyed extensive travel together and
with friends. Mr. Mitnick is survived by his
beloved wife of 38 years, Maxine Schnall, his
four children, Stephen (Denise), David
(Shelly), Lisa (Seth) and Susan (Ari), his nine
grandchildren, Emily (Michael), Elizabeth, Ar-
iel, Jeremy, Michael, Rebecca, Jasper,
Gemma & Pearle, his two stepchildren Ilene
(Brad) and Rona, his sister, Barbara and Es-
ther Gushner, the mother of his children.

SAVELL Constance "Connie" Savell (nee Barsky) On
October 10, 2019, at home, with loving
friends, in the warm embrace of her adoring
son, Kirk. Graced with the sweetest of hearts
as well as an indomitable spirit, Connie
shared excitement and humor, caring and
loyalty, honesty and love, wherever she went.

She led with her heart, always. A South Philly
girl, precious daughter of the late Louis and
Rosalyn (Ross) Barsky and dear sister to
Mindy Keesal, Connie single-handedly cre-
ated a warm home for her family in Penn
Wynne, PA. She put herself through Villan-
ova University, a Bachelor's and Master's
graduate with the highest honors, and then
managed the school's Human Organization
Science Institute. Connie was a published
poet -- a prolific and bold writer. She also
passionately performed educational work-
shops, mostly for seniors, throughout the
Philadelphia area. A quick wit, with a smile
that warmed your being, Connie was happi-
est when caring for others. Though afflicted
for decades with a panic disorder more
severe than any had ever encountered, she
ferociously, she valiantly, fought on every
single day to be Connie -- to live with joy.

Through pleasure or pain, for over 85 years,
there was surely not one dull moment. Above
all, Connie was a fabulously loving mother to
Kirk, and to Wayne Savell, and to the late
Keith Savell, lost at age 10. Proud grand-
mother of Keven Savell, Connie will be pro-
foundly missed. We love you infinity plus
