KARLIN HAFETZ
Aaron Irwin Hafetz, 89, longtime resident of
Margate, passed away on October 18, 2016,
to the voices of his immediate family sharing
memories of bygone Passovers and celebra-
tions. His hand was held, and a lifetime of
kisses returned with the kind of love only a
truly devoted husband and father can
inspire.Aaron lived a life of devotion and ser-
vice to his family, community and faith.
Irma Sue Hafetz (née Neff), his wife of 59
years, was his greatest joy and truest love
and in his final days he used what strength
remained to share one last kiss. Following
service as a Marine MP during WWII and the
Korean War, Aaron married Irma and raised
four sons. A patriarch in the most profound
sense, Aaron's family relied on his moral wis-
dom, unquestioning love and unfailing sup-
port. He instilled in his family a strong sense
of Jewish identity and commitment to reli-
gious and cultural participation. In addition to
beloved family man, Aaron was known as an
inspiring teacher who influenced generations
as teacher and ultimately head of the math
department for 35 years at Atlantic City High
School, and as Hebrew School teacher at
Beth Judah. In the years since retiring in
1989, he continued to receive tributes from
former students whose lives he touched. For
many years he co-owned a hotel in Atlantic
City and continued as a small business own-
er until his passing. He remained a respec-
ted and steadfast leader in his community
until his final months and his generosity as a
philanthropist benefited numerous causes
and Jewish organizations. In addition to his
wife, Irma, Aaron's legacy includes son Scott
and daughter-in-law Kathy Hafetz of Linwood;
Drew Hafetz of Hollywood, FL; Larry Hafetz
and son-in-law Eric Gutierrez of Los Angeles,
CA; and Glenn Hafetz, of Ventnor, who in
these final years was his father's most con-
stant companion; as well as his grandchil-
dren Jordon, Brianna, Madison, and Brandon,
in whom he had such pride. He also main-
tained special relationships with his nieces
and nephews and lifelong friendships with his
extended family, including his sister- and
brother-in-law, Jeannie and Burt Bennett of
Pompano Beach, FL. Donations to American
Friends of Magen David Adom,
