When Pittsburgh original Ron Rosenberg

grandchildren were always within reach. The
city was filled with proud grandfathers, but
you’d be hard pressed to find a more proud
“Poppy.” A native and lifelong resident of the
Steel City, Ronald M. Rosenberg, known as
Ronnie to his family and Ron to his friends,
passed away peacefully in his sleep on Nov.
17. He was 80 years old. Sadly, he did not
have a chance to do his most favorite thing
— call one of his grandchildren on his 18 th
birthday. Rosenberg had never missed a
birthday or life event. Rosenberg, a Taylor
Allderdice graduate and a veteran of the U.S.
Air Force, spent his professional life in a
myriad of roles and positions, including
sales, retail and at the Jewish Community
Center of Greater Pittsburgh. He was a past
member of Temple Sinai and a former presid-
ent of its Men’s Club. His parents, Ed and
Irene Rosenberg, were founding members of
Temple Sinai. Rosenberg was an active coach
in the 14 th Ward Little League, a league star-
