Elaine was the loving wife of Dennis Davidow and the devoted mother of her daughter, Dr. Toby Davidow. Elaine was pre- ceded in death by her two sisters, including Sylvia (Davis) Goldstein in 2008 and Ray (Davis) Platt who passed away 6 days before Elaine, on October 24. Although Elaine battled Multiple Sclerosis and Dementia for 25 years, Elaine’s continuous smile, infectious laugh, and words of wisdom served as an inspira- tion to many people, most notably her daugh- ter. Often the optimist, one of her favorite sayings was, “Tomorrow is a new day with no mistakes in it.” She was a fighter through her entire life, always advocating for her fam- ily and herself. Helen was born Nov. 4, 1922 in Philadelphia, and her parents owned the Rudnick Tailor-Furrier shop on Akron St. She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1946 and was an elementary school teacher and substitute in the Philadelphia School System. For 67 years Helen loved being married to Morton Eisenberg, who preceded her in death on Dec. 10, 2013. Both were active members of Temple Beth Emeth on Welsh Rd. Helen is survived by her son Gary (Nancy) Eisenberg, daughter Debbie (Bob) Merion, five grand- children: Marisa, Alison, Seth, Sarah, and Mitchell, and four great-grandchildren. Helen never missed sending a yearly birthday card and anniversary card to at least three-dozen family members and friends, many with a hand-written poem. Elaine Ettenger was born to William and Tillie Ettenger in Philadelphia on April 1, 1921. She resided in Logan and graduated from Simon Gratz High School. She married Dr. Milton Goodstein of Philadelphia on October 24, 1943. They lived in Havertown, where she was active in her synagogue, Suburban Jew- ish Community Center, was a community leader in developing TASC, a nonprofit sup- porting teen employment, and performed market research for the Chilton Company. She and Milton moved to Cincinnati, OH, in 1974 where she became active in the Crest Hills Country Club. Following in her sister, Gladys’s, successful business career in Phil- adelphia, she founded Cincinnati Sellout, a personalized home liquidation business. After 15 years in Cincinnati, she and her husband divided their time between Ventnor, New Jer- sey and Boynton Beach, Florida. She was predeceased by her husband in 2006. After- wards she spent the last ten years of her life with her partner Fred Brenner, also a Phil- adelphia native. They lived in Boca Raton, Florida, and Bryn Mawr. A lawyer, mentor, community leader, friend, brother, loving and beloved husband, father, grandfather and family man. Ronnie was born in Philipsburg, Pennsylvania and attended Altoona High School where he first started dating his wife of 63 years, Rosamond. He went on to Penn State University and then moved to Phil- adelphia to attend the University of Pennsylvania Law School. Ronnie shared his life with his wife, Rosamond and their chil- dren, Debbie and Steven Kass, Steven and Lisa Isenberg and Jodi Isenberg. Ronnie was the delighted and proud Grampy of Joshua, Alexis and Samantha Isenberg and Jared and Lindsay Kass. An avid golfer and traveler, he loved boating, the Philadelphia Eagles, music, the boardwalk, bagels, lox and cream cheese and his family. He was lovingly known to his family as “Rocket” and was the family’s im- petus for establishing the Rocket Education Community Center for Life Long Learning (REC), a facility for people with early stage dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. Dr. Pitkow was a Clinical Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. He was an attending Orthopaedic Surgeon at Lower Bucks Hospital in Bristol, Pennsylvania and at the St. Mary’s Hospital in Langhorne, Pennsylvania. Dr. Pitkow re- ceived his undergraduate and medical de- grees from the University of Pennsylvania in 1956 and 1960, respectively. After complet- ing his rotating internship at Abington Me- morial Hospital in Abington, Pennsylvania, he served at the Martin Army Hospital in Geor- gia for two years, with one year in pediatric training program. He then returned to Abing- ton for one year as a general surgery resid- ent. From 1966-1969 he was an orthopaedic surgery resident at the Hospital of the Uni- versity of Pennsylvania. He was board certi- fied in 1971 and was a fellow of the Americ- an Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He held membership in the American Academy of Cerebral Palsy, American Medical Associ- ation, Bucks County Medical Society, Pennsylvania Orthopaedic Society, Pennsylvania Medical Society and Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. Al- though his clinical practice encompassed general orthopaedics, his special orthopaed- ic interests were in the areas of gait and pos- tural problems in children, clubfeet and cerebral palsy. He was the Orthopaedic con- sultant to the Woods School since 1969, and to the Beechwood Mead Trauma Unit in Langhorne since 1984. From 1969-1974 he was Director of the Club Foot Clinic at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and from 1974-1984, he was Director of the Gait and Foot Clinic at the Children’s hospital of Philadelphia. He was prede- ceased by his devoted wife of more than 50 years, Dr. Lucy Feiden Rabin, in 2007, and his younger brother Leonard Rabin in 2014. Sid was born on August 29th, 1924 in Phil- adelphia to Irvin and Ida Rabinovitz. He atten- ded Bartram High school and graduated with honors. After 2.5 years at Temple University, he was drafted into the US army, initially as a 1st gunner and later as a combat medic; serving in Europe with the 86th Infantry Divi- sion, he helped to liberate parts of Germany and Austria. Upon his return he was admit- ted to Temple University Medical school, graduating in 1951. He completed his intern- ship at Lankenau hospital, and he and Lucy later settled in West Chester. He was appoin- ted to the medical staff at Chester County hospital in 1953. After 6 years of General Practice, he returned to complete a specialty residency in OBGYN at Philadelphia General hospital. He and Dr Joseph Abbott started Chester County OBGYN in the late ‘50’s and practiced together for almost 30 years. He served as Chief of Staff at Chester County from 1975-1977, chairman of the Dept of OB- GYN from 1978-1982 and served on multiple committees from 1973-1990. After retire- ment at 72, Dr Rabin became a founding board member of Community Volunteers in Medicine (CVIM). Sid was an active member of Kesher Israel synagogue for almost 50 years, and of the Chabad House of Chester County more recently. He served as Presid- ent at Kesher Israel from 1966-1968. He was blessed with an operatic voice and enter- tained friends, family and receptive audi- ences all over the world for 8 decades. He was a loyal Rotary member, avid skier, boat- ing enthusiast who loved fishing for flounder and blues in the Atlantic Ocean, and enthusi- astically followed multiple Philadelphia sports teams, especially the Phillies and Eagles. Sid and Lucy were married for 56 years and are survived by four children, Douglas S. Rabin, M.D. (Vivian) of Clifton, N.J., Andrew M. Ra- bin, M.D. (Liat) of Ganai Tikva, Israel, Valerie Rabin Heald (Garth) of West Chester, and Nancy Rabin Neff (Andrew) of Teaneck, N.J. GOLDSTEINS' ROSENBERG'S RAPHAEL-SACKS ROSENBERG When Pittsburgh original Ron Rosenberg went anywhere in the city, pictures of his grandchildren were always within reach. The city was filled with proud grandfathers, but you’d be hard pressed to find a more proud “Poppy.” A native and lifelong resident of the Steel City, Ronald M. Rosenberg, known as Ronnie to his family and Ron to his friends, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Nov. 17. He was 80 years old. Sadly, he did not have a chance to do his most favorite thing — call one of his grandchildren on his 18 th birthday. Rosenberg had never missed a birthday or life event. Rosenberg, a Taylor Allderdice graduate and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, spent his professional life in a myriad of roles and positions, including sales, retail and at the Jewish Community Center of Greater Pittsburgh. He was a past member of Temple Sinai and a former presid- ent of its Men’s Club. His parents, Ed and Irene Rosenberg, were founding members of Temple Sinai. Rosenberg was an active coach in the 14 th Ward Little League, a league star- ted by his father. An avid fan of sports, Rosenberg rooted for the Pirates, Steelers and Penguins. Over many years and well into his 80’s, Karl worked for and consulted with a variety of major companies specializing in fluid mechanics and nuclear energy. This took him to many US East and West coast cities and overseas, but he considered him- self a Philadelphian throughout his product- ive life. He was a lover of classical music, opera and historical non-fiction, a dedicated photographer, an active gardener, at home carpenter, and a lifetime British car enthusi- ast. He will be remembered for his brilliance, cheerful disposition, his cooperative and op- timistic spirit and his willingness to accept with dignity whatever adversity he was faced with. Born in Philadelphia PA, she was the daughter of Max and Gertrude Psaki and sis- ter to David and Martin Psaki. Evelyn gradu- ated from Overbrook high school and earned her BS in education from Temple University and masters of fine arts from the Tyler school of Art. Her greatest loves in life were her hus- band, her 3 children, and grandchildren. She was lovingly married to her husband, Allan M Tabas, for 50 years. Her main passion in life was her art- she loved painting and sculpture and continued to work into her 80s. She was a strong-minded woman and a loyal friend with a great sense of humor and a loving heart. She always had a smile and was truly pleased to see friends and family and meet new people. She enjoyed spending time with her friends, including her 7 mile constitution- al walks every morning. She was a voracious reader and especially loved murder myster- ies, frequently flipping to the end “just to see who dunnit.” She loved growing plants and vegetables and had an extraordinarily green thumb. She is survived by her daughter Max- ine, her sons Joel and Jeffrey, and her grand- children Kenzo, Kai, Maya, Zoe, Zachary, Ted, Nat, and Irene. GOLDSTEINS' ROSENBERG'S RAPHAEL-SACKS Bruce David Weill, May 8, 1953-October 23, 2017 passed away peacefully after a long ill- ness. He was born in Torrington, CT from where his family moved to Ohio and then to New Jersey. After graduation from Rutgers College of Pharmacy, Bruce joined the US Public Health Service as a Commissioned Of- ficer and worked with the Indian Health Ser- vice in Arizona. He then worked in private pharmacies in PA. Bruce was active in Com- peer and Tikvah/AJMI, both organizations supporting mental health and did much vo- lunteer work helping others. He was very kind, generous and thoughtful and will be much missed by all who knew him. He al- ways acknowledged any kindness to himself with the phrase "I love you." Bruce is sur- vived by his mother Edith Weill, sisters Susan Weill and Cathy Yungmann (Edward), neph- ews Carl and David Yungmann and a great- nephew. Preceded in death by his father, Peter. Born in Philadelphia, the son of Max and Jean Weiss and brother of Charles Weiss, Marvin gradu- ated from Girard College (Class of 1950), Harvard College (Class of 1955) and Uni- versity of Pennsylvania Law School (Class of 1958) and he served two years in the US Army stationed at Fort Dix in New Jersey, be- fore starting a prestigious career as a corpor- ate attorney for several center city law firms, including Dilworth, Paxson, Kalish, Korn and Levy and Eisen, Fineburg and McCarthy. He also served in executive positions at Atlantic Trailer Leasing, Prescription Delivery Sys- tems and CorCell, a division of the Coriell In- stitute for Medical Research. Marvin was the beloved husband of Betty Weiss (née Gold- man], devoted father of sons Michael (Niu) and Brian (Valerie) and grandfather of Ithaca and Kythira Weiss and Tyler and Hannah Weiss. Marvin was a generous supporter of several humanitarian organizations, includ- ing the Federation of Jewish Agencies of Greater Philadelphia and the Anti-Defamation League of B’nai B’rith Philadelphia, where he served a term as the Chairman of the Metro- politan Philadelphia Advisory Board. He also received a number honors including, the Steven Girard Award, the Steven Girard Alumni Award of Merit and the Ben Gurion Lodge B’nai B’rith Award. She was born October 19, 1922 in Philadelphia to Joseph and Anna Wilder and grew up in North Philadelphia. She attended West Chester Teacher’s College and the University of Miami and became a beloved teacher in the Philadelphia Schools. She taught at Spruance School and Greenfield School over a forty-year career. In 1946, she married at- torney Eugene F. Mande, and had one son, Louis Mande. Over their forty-year marriage they lived in Center City Philadelphia and Elkins Park. After his death, she moved to New Mexico to be closer to her son and grandchildren. Then in 1994, she settled in Boca Raton, Florida near her two sisters. She kept herself busy with classes, volunteer work and her many friends. She married Ed Eaton in 2004. Adele and Ed traveled the world together. In 2013, Adele returned to the Philadelphia area. Adele enjoyed travel, fashion, art, music, parties and her family. She is survived by her son Louis Mande and his wife Deborah Mande of Elkins Park; her grandchildren Joe Mande (Kylie Augustine) and Rachel Rozsa (Erik Rozsa); her sisters Lynn Mazer (Ray Mazer) and Cynthia Segal (Albert Segal); as well as nieces, nephews and her step son Andy Eaton (Barbara) and their family. She was born on November 4, 1926 in Philadelphia, PA, the daughter of Rose (Korenbleth) and Abraham J. Becker. She at- tended Lower Merion High School and later graduated from the University of Florida. She was married to Robert Woldow, also of Phil- adelphia, and had four children: the late Richard Woldow, the late Dana Woldow Schreiber, Tina Woldow Rutan and Robert Woldow, Jr. Sonia was active in many organ- izations, often in leadership roles. She was on the Board of the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia and Federation’s Wo- men’s Division as well as the JCC’s of Great- er Philadelphia. She also served on the Boards of the Philadelphia Geriatric Center and the Jewish Publication Society. She played an active role at Akiba Hebrew Academy (now Jack M. Barrack Hebrew Academy), first as a parent, then as a mem- ber of the school's Board of Directors, and then as Board President from 1978 to 1981. During her tenure she focused on increasing financial aid for students, building enroll- ment while balancing the budget, and raising Akiba's profile in the general Jewish com- munity. She was a member of the school’s Board of Directors for almost 40 years. Oth- er organizations she and her husband sup- ported included Children’s Hospital of Phil- adelphia, The Philadelphia Art Museum, The Barnes Foundation, The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, The Philadelphia Or- chestra, and The Norton Museum of Art. So- nia is survived by her sister Joy Naprstek (Bill), sister-in-law Betsy Becker (Steven), her children and their spouses: Cindy Woldow, Mark Schreiber, Frank Rutan, and Peter Scur- lock, and her grandchildren: Cypher and Ju- lie Woldow, Sam (Zoe), Max and Jacob Schreiber.
