NOVEMBER, 2019
Robert “Bob” Barsky, of Philadelphia, PA, age
87, passed away peacefully on November 7,
2019. Family was first and foremost in his life
and he truly treasured their remarkable close-
ness. He often described himself as one with
his beloved wife, the late Harriet (Spector)
Barsky. He was the loving father, role model,
inspiration, and guide to his devoted and sur-
viving sons, Noah and Joshua. During their
lives, he was a loyal and loving son to Isaac
and Minnie Barsky, brother to sisters Edith
(Irv) Weisberg, Mollie “Mickie” Luber, and
Sophie (Albert) Pollack, and son in-law to
Clayre and Samuel Spector. Niece Shelia
(George) Bellwoar and extended family also
survive him. Bob will long be remembered
not only for the blessing of his many years,
but the remarkable quality and dignity of his
life. During his life and upon his passing,
family, friends, and acquaintances quickly de-
scribed him as an incredibly likeable man of
great kindness and respectfulness, with a
gentle and calm demeanor, notably backed
by inner strength. Holidays and good news
were embraced with great joy and life’s chal-
lenges were faced with courage, poise, re-
solve, and grace. Throughout his life, a deep
love for Judaism and Israel was constant and
he was an active longtime congregant of
Shaare Shamayim. Most of all, he appreci-
ated the many blessings of life each day and
in all circumstances, and thanked G-d for life,
health, and sustenance. For most of his life,
his residence was in the City of Philadelphia,
graduating from West Philadelphia High
School in January 1950. Professionally, he
worked as design engineer and quality man-
ager in the telemetry industry. He was proud
and honored to be the first employee of the
Microcom Company of Warminster, PA,
where he worked for three decades until his
retirement in 1996. He was grateful to have
attended a company reunion in October,
where he shared his love for his fellow em-
ployees, many of whom admired Bob as a
mentor and trusted friend. In his leisure time,
he had many and quite varied interests. He
enjoyed history and was very patriotic to the
United States, with great respect for the milit-
ary and first responders. He admired and en-
joyed nature, particularly the night skies, the
changing seasons, animal life, the majestic
canyons of the Southwest, and the house
plants to which he tended. Classical music
filled the background of home and the car
and he could astonishingly identify works of
music and their composers in seconds.

Wordworking was both a hobby and talent,
and his gifted ability, hard work, and crafts-
manship filled the family home with beautiful
cabinets, shelves, tables, and other pieces.

He enjoyed classic films and was an avid
reader with a personal library filled with
volumes of books on many topics. He will be
remembered fondly as a good man by those
who he had even occasional interaction, such
as medical staff, employees at his favorite
stores, neighbors, and fellow synagogue con-
gregants. In just a bit more than the final year
of his life, he quickly became an adored res-
ident of the wonderful Paul’s Run senior
community in Northeast Philadelphia, well
known to residents, employees, and visitors
for his friendliness, pleasant kindness, gratit-
ude, and graceful dignity. Known lovingly as
Bob, Bobby, Mr. Barsky, or Dad, he will be
deeply missed and long remembered for a
full life well lived. Contributions may be made
in his memory to a charity established in his
beloved wife Harriet’s memory, The 323
Fund, c/o CCCF, 28 West Market Street, The
Lincoln Building, West Chester, PA 19382.
