FELDMAN
DEATH NOTICES
FELDMAN Leonard Feldman passed away peacefully and
of natural causes on April 28, 2020. Len was
born in 1923 in West Philadelphia, to Paul
and Fannie Feldman, attended schools in the
Philadelphia area, then served in World War
II with the rank of Sergeant in the European
theater, earning a Meritorious Unit Award and
a Purple Heart Medal. In 1947, Len gradu-
ated from University of Pennsylvania with Phi
Beta Kappa honors and in 1949 received his
MBA from the Wharton School. Len became
a CPA and worked with his father at the Phil-
adelphia accounting firm of Feldman & Feld-
man, and later with Morris J. Cohen Inc. un-
til his retirement at the age of 94. In 1950,
he married the love of his life Judy Shestack
from Wynnefield and raised three children,
Ken, who passed away in 2007, Rick and
Kathy in Wynnewood. In 1962, Len and Judy
were one of the 17 founding families of
Temple Beth Hillel, later merging as Temple
Beth Hillel-Beth El. He developed there a life-
time of friends and served as its President in
1972. He also served as the President of the
William Porter Lodge. Len was an avid ten-
nis player, committed to weekly foursomes
with close friends, except during tax season.

For many years, Len and Judy enjoyed their
winter apartment at Boca Lago in Boca
Raton. They also loved to travel, and Len
documented not only every vista with his
photography but also with a running com-
mentary. This hobby extended into an in-
cessant taking of pictures of friends and fam-
ily at every major and minor event only to be
appreciated many years later. Len was a
lover of classical music, played to the highest
of decibels on the home phonograph, while
conducting his favorite Mahler’s 1st Sym-
phony, often only to an audience of his dog
Misty. Len was also an avid and loyal Phil-
adelphia sports fan. After Judy’s passing
several years ago, Len moved from Haver-
ford to the Watermark, walking distance to
his accounting firm. Our family is so grateful
for the friendship and care Sandra, Carlene
and Annie provided to him these last few
years. Len will be remembered for his
warmth, kindness and cheery disposition.

Throughout his long life, Len never com-
plained about anything and took great joy in
his family, friends and neighbors. He was a
man of unparalleled character, principled and
understated. He is survived by his younger
sister Grace, her husband Ed, sisters in law
Marciarose, Louise and her husband Alan,
and his loving grandchildren Zachary, Noah,
Jesse and his wife Eva, and Allie. Donations
in his memory may be made to Temple Beth
Hillel- Beth El, 1001 Remington Rd., Wyn-
newood, PA 19096. Due to current restric-
tions, a celebration of his life will be held at a
later date.
