DEATH NOTICES
SUVAL Irving Suval died on January 25 th , 2019. He
had been diagnosed with lung cancer over
two years ago and stopped treatment in
November of 2018. He was a person pos-
sessed of grace and deep moral courage. He
was truly a mensch and will be greatly
missed by all those who loved him. He was
born September 14, 1926 in Brooklyn, NY to
Abram and Freda (Emshein) Suvalsky. He
was the third of three brothers, Henry and
Bob. He grew up in Trenton NJ where he at-
tended Trenton Central High School. It was in
Trenton where he met the love of his life Dor-
is Lipkovitz who ultimately became his wife
and partner of 67 years. When he graduated
from high school in 1944 he joined the army
and served in France until 1946. After he re-
turned home, he attended Temple University
in Philadelphia and graduated with a degree
in accounting. He and Doris were married in
Providence, RI in October of 1951. They star-
ted their first home in Fall River, MA where
their first child Michael was born in 1953. He
then went to work for the IRS and relocated
to Norwich CT. Doris and Irving’s second
child Abby was born in Norwich. Norwich
was a place of very fond memories and last-
ing friendships. In 1961, the IRS transferred
him to Washington DC where the family
spent 4 years. In 1965 he was transferred to
Philadelphia and oved to Cherry Hill, NJ
where he and Doris lived until 1990 when
they moved to Palm Harbor, FL. In Palm
Harbor he un-retired and opened a solo ac-
counting firm which he ran until 2017 when
he mostly retired. He enjoyed living in Flor-
ida enjoyed the pace, enjoyed his friends and
really enjoyed not having to shovel snow. He
was a remarkable person. He was intellectu-
ally curious, well read on any number of top-
ics. He mastered the digitalization of his
world with ease and bemusement as well. He
was a great listener though his wife might
take exception to that statement. He treas-
ured his family and was a best friend to each
of his children. He was an enthusiastic golfer
who was able to enjoy some of the most
beautiful golf courses in this country. He nev-
er thought of golf as a good walk spoiled. He
was very proud of his heritage and its tradi-
tions. He did however reserve a skeptical eye
towards the concept of an all-powerful deity.

But in the end he was comforted by his faith.

He is predeceased by his parents Abram and
Freda, his brothers Henry(Maxine) and Bob
(Chippy) his brother in law Sanford Lipkovitz
and his son in law Dr. Barry Koch who he
loved like a son. He is survived by the love of
his life and wife and partner of 67 years Dor-
is. His daughter Abby (the late Dr. Barry
Koch). His son Michael and Michelle and
their children Helen Marie Shih (Mike), Tre-
vor and Aaron Bowles. And multiple nieces
and nephews. He will be missed. In his hon-
or please donate to your charity of choice or
the American Cancer Society.
