GRUBER DEATH NOTICES
GRUBER Stewart Meyer Gruber, age 87 of Warminster,
Pa, beloved son, father, grandfather, hus-
band, brother, uncle, great uncle, great great
uncle and friend died on April 19, 2018. Stew
was surrounded by family and close friends
during his last days at Abington Hospital.

Stewart was born on Oct. 11, 1930 in Phila.

to Mollie and Isadore Gruber, and he grew up
in North Phila. helping his family run
Gruber's Candy Store on the corner of 8th
and Norris. He graduated from Northeast
High School in 1948 and Temple University
in 1957, where he also met his future wife,
Claire. Stew served proudly in the U.S. Air
Force from 1950-1951. He had a distin-
guished career with the Internal Revenue Ser-
vice where he worked as a revenue agent and
special agent from 1957-1982. As a special
agent he held the position of IRS Represent-
ative to the Dept. of Justice Strike Force on
Organized Crime and was the Asst. Chief,
Criminal Investigations Division. He also
worked for the Commonweath of PA from
1982-1991 as Director, Office of Criminal Tax
Investigation for the Dept. of Revenue and
Director, Office of Special Investigation for
the Auditor General. Stew cherished many
long lasting friendships throughout his life in
Philadelphia. Stew is survived by his loving
wife Claire (nee Kern) of 58 years, loving
brother Irvin, daughter

KASKEY Jeanne Kaskey (nee Gittelman), of Palm
Beach Gardens, passed away peacefully on
May 7. She was 86 years old. She was pre-
deceased by her husband Richard (Dick) and
beloved son, James (Jimmy.) Jeanne atten-
ded Temple University majoring in Commu-
nications and was a graduate of the art
classes at the Barnes Foundation. Jeanne en-
joyed her many memorable tours as a do-
cent at The Philadelphia Art Museum and en-
joyed visiting exhibitions as a member of the
Four Arts Society and Norton Museum of Art.

Any opportunity to visit the Kravis Center for
live music, theater and performance was al-
ways a must! She successfully operated her
own business, a design and manufacturing
firm whose products were sold through fine
department stores. She was most proud of
her hand-made umbrellas being sold exclus-
ively at Bonwit Teller and Lord & Taylor
stores. Jeanne also had a keen eye for art and
antiques, which led her to start a business
Art Tours Associates with her dear friend
Rhea Foster, providing day bus trips to mu-
seum collections. Jeanne will be re-
membered for her love of speed-walking on
the Atlantic City Boardwalk, where she spent
many years with her wonderful family and

Samuel Katz, April 25, 2018. He was an elec-
trical engineer. During WWII, he was sta-
tioned in England engaged in combat flying.

He was the recipient of the French Legion of
Honor Medal in 2016. He also appeared in
the documentary Bagels Over Berlin about
Jewish Army Air Corps Veterans. Mr. Katz
was 97 years old and lived in Elkins Park, PA.

David Aaron Koss, Esquire 88 of Wyn-
newood, a Philadelphia-area lawyer for more
than sixty years died on May 5, 2018 after
suffering a brain injury in 2017. David’s first
priority and love of life were his six beautiful
children, eight grandchildren, and his wife
Freya of 50 years. His clients considered
David, not only a brilliant attorney, but their
best friend. David grew up in Wynnefield
with his sisters Selma, Harriet and Betty at-
tending Overbrook High and Temple Uni-
versity. He is survived by his wife Freya (nee
Strauss), his children Rhea Koss, Judith Koss
(Larry Chacker), Hugh Koss (Janine Swern-
berg), Abigayil Koss, Matthew Koss (Xenia),
and Rachael Koss (David Rice). His sisters

LEWIS Barbara “Bobbie” Arlene Lewis (née Goldfine)
lived a vibrant life and died peacefully at 81.

Bobbie is survived by her partner James
Lewis, children Michael (Stacey), Ken (Jen-
nifer) and Rachael; grandchildren Daniel,
Matthew and Sam; siblings Harvey Goldfine
and Elaine Silverman Astorino. She is pre-
ceded in death by parents Al and Florence
Goldfine. Her children and lifetime friend-
ships were her proudest accomplishments.

She launched Best of Philly Love from Home,
was an amazing host and caterer, never met
a beach she didn’t love, had an eye to design
and fashion, battled cancer and stroke vali-
antly and always made the best of it. Ser-
vices were held at Levine in Broomall, PA, 3
pm May 17. Join us for a celebration of life
on June 2. In lieu of flowers the family re-

Lymphoma Society or The Abramson Center
for Jewish Life.

LIPSKY Sidney Lipsky, on May 10, 2018, beloved
husband of the late Harriet, loving father of

(Dave) and Jordan and Kyle Lipsky and ad-

Maier and Emunah and Yeshaya Toran. Sid
was born in Poland, January 10, 1922 and
lived in New York City, Philadelphia and New
Jersey at various times. He was a veteran of
World War II, serving in the 3 rd Army, recon-
naissance squad and fighting in 5 major
battles. He lived a rich and joyful life and was
loved for his ability to put smiles on the faces
of all who knew him through his joke telling,
performing card tricks and genuine love of
people. Services were held on May 14, 2018
at Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels, Man-
alapan, New Jersey. In lieu of flowers, the
