Sylvan Litz served in the US Army as a 1 st
Lieutenant in the early 50’s. He also worked
in advertising and owned an agency. Later,
he worked in the cable industry as a market-
ing communications manager and ran an in-
house advertising agency. In retirement he
wrote two books which were published. Con-

NOSKOW Sophie Pollack (nee Barsky), lifelong resid-
ent of Philadelphia, PA, age 99, passed away
peacefully on January 26, 2018. Loving wife
of the late Albert Pollack, devoted daughter to
the late Isaac and Minnie Barsky, beloved sis-
ter of Robert (late Harriet) Barsky, the late
Edith (late Irv) Weisberg, and the late Mickie
Luber, and also a caring stepmother to the
late Robert (late Marilyn) Pollack. She was a
dedicated and loving aunt to her nephews
Noah and Joshua Barsky, niece Shelia
(George) Bellwoar, and extended family. She
will long be remembered not only for the
blessing of her many years, but the remark-
able quality of her life. She worked diligently,
and with great integrity, as a trusted book-
keeper at Foremost Kosher Meats, Reisman
Pretzels, Queen Apparel, and local banks. In
retirement, she selflessly provided love and
care to her parents and sisters in their ad-
vanced years. She took great pride in her
Jewish faith and was a longtime congregant
of the Adath Tikvah Montefiore and Ner
Zedek synagogues. She held a deep love of
nature and her home was always admired for
its remarkable balance of beauty and mod-
esty. Throughout her dignified life, she made
friends across generations, and then in the
past decade, she was an adored resident of
Paul’s Run in Northeast Philadelphia, well
known to residents, employees, and visitors
for her friendliness, conversational ability,
and sense of humor. Contributions may be

Sarah "Sue" Raizes (nee Gordon) of Tucson,
AZ (formerly of Philadelphia) passed away on
January 17, 2018 at the age of almost 105
years. Beloved wife of the late Sam Raizes,
loving mother of Sharon (Art) Triester and
the late Myrna (Paul) Shalita. Adored grand-
mother of Elliot (Victoria) Shalita, Stuart (Di-
ane) Triester, Marla (Knight) Hinman and the
late Caryn Yaker. Survived by great-grand-
