GOLDSTEINS’ ROSENBERG’S
RAPHAEL-SACKS GRAVITZ
A joyful, vibrant, loving and productive per-
son, Jean was a skilled seamstress, tailor,
fashion designer, home decorator, artist and
swing dancer who died on March 18 at age
89. Jean left us not only with happy memor-
ies but also with lasting original creations.

She designed and sewed three wedding
gowns. One for each of her two daughters
and one for her niece. She designed and
sewed many dresses, gowns, suits, coats,
and overcoats for her family and for herself.

For her home she made hand-sewn drapes,
curtains, sofa and seat covers and much,
much more. In needlepoint, she created
many local and Israeli outdoor scenes plus
an unusual one of the "Coca Cola" symbol
written in Hebrew letters. Her crowning
achievement was a reproduction of the twelve
Chagall windows, five in needlepoint and sev-
en in individual colored beads that shimmer
like glass. Size 18 X 23 inches, all are framed
in decorative wood. A fast, light-footed swing
dancer, she shared many prizes won in dance
contests on cruises and at Penns Landing. In
Atlantic City, at the Sands Casino lounge,
Jean and her husband won dance contests
judged by the Geater, Jerry Blavat, and by the
professional dancer who had given actor
John Travolta dance lessons for two movies.

On the night before the Sands Casino closed,
Jean and her husband were guests at a
private party where she danced with the CEO
and her husband danced with the CEO's wife.

Jean was truly a real WONDER WOMAN.

Jean is survived by her broken-hearted hus-
band, Arthur, and by five children. Daughters
Phyllis (Michael), Linda (Dr. Richard), sons
Joel (Kim), Bob (Stephanie), Bill, and by
niece Paula Gordon (Allen). She leaves 9
grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Friends and relatives were invited to funeral
services held at Goldsteins North Chapel on
March 20th. Shomrim chaplain Alan Ed-
wards conducted the services. Burial is in
Montefiore cemetery. Contributions in her
memory may be made to the Philadelphia
Jewish Federation and/or to the Jewish Na-
tional fund for a tree to be planted in Israel in
her name.
