Marion Leventhal Bell, 88, of Walnut Creek,
Ca., died March 11th. She is survived by her
daughter, Susan, and her grandson, Alex.
Marion lived in Wallingford and Swarthmore,
Delaware County, before moving to Califor-
nia to be closer to daughter. She is prede-
ceased by her loving husband, Jerome, and
her daughter, Nancy. Contributions to Mari-

BERK Joyce Berk died March 4, 2018 at home. She
was the daughter of the late Samuel and the
late Yedda Berk and the sister of the late Lois
Berk. Joyce was a retired Insurance Exam-

Bruce Bogdanoff, age 71, died on March 17,
2018. He was a school principal who resided
in Brigatine, NJ. Devoted son of Bernice and
the late Henry Bogdanoff; beloved husband of
Rhonda Bogdanoff (nee Bentler); loving fath-
er of Aron Bogdanoff (Mandy) and the late
Amy Bogdanoff; dear step-father of Lang-
ston Denner (Jessica) and Remy Denner;

BAXT Joan Tieman Baxt, age 81, passed away
peacefully, on February 15, 2018, after a
long, courageous battle with Parkinson’s Dis-
ease. Joan was the loving and beloved wife of
Benjamin Baxt. Joan was the loving and be-
loved mother of Elisa Baxt. Joni enjoyed
spending time with family and friends, travel,
the theatre, reading and the Philadelphia Or-
chestra. She was a graduate of Temple Uni-
versity, having attended their school of Ra-
dio and Telecommunications. Joni worked for
Philadelphia’s TV channel 3 and the Lower
Merion School District. Joni also performed
with a Summer Stock Theatre Company on
Cape Cod, during her college days. Services
were private. Friends will be notified of a
planned Life Celebration. In lieu of flowers,
donations in Joni’s honor, may be made to
the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s

Nicholas D. DeMaio, 83, of Audubon, PA,
died Wednesday, February 28, 2018. He is
survived by a loving wife, Sandy DeMaio; 4

elle DeMaio-DeAngelis (Tom); and 11 grand-

Marvin “Marty” Ellick of West Palm Beach, FL
for the past 15 years, formerly of Bensalem,
PA, passed away on March 6, 2018. Mr. El-
lick was born in Philadelphia 72 years ago,
graduated from Germantown High School in
January of 1963 and attended Temple Uni-
versity. He served in the Army National
Guard. Marty was a real estate broker and ap-
praiser. When he opened Ellick Real Estate in
1970 he was the youngest broker in Phil-
adelphia. Marty was an active member of the
PTMA (Philadelphia Travel Managers Associ-
ation) and president in 1983. He was also a
member of Sigma Alpha Ro (XI Chapter).
Marty and his wife Joy are life members of
Congregation Tifereth Israel in Bensalem.
Marty was pre-deceased by his parents, the
late Jerome & Gertrude Ellick. Left to cherish
his memory is his loving wife Joy (Solomon)
Ellick for the past 45 years. His beloved
daughters Jennifer (Benjamin) Thaw & Debra
(Edward) Weintraub. His adored grandchil-
dren Rachel & Vivian Thaw and Juliet Wein-
traub and his loving sister Joan (Robert)
Parkin. Funeral services were held at Rubin

JOSEPH FRANK
Bernard Solis Frank, Rabbi Emeritus, Temple
Beth Torah, died from complications related
to Parkinson’s Disease on March 1, 2018 in
Warrington, PA. He was 85. Rabbi Bernard
Solis Frank served the Philadelphia com-
munity as Rabbi for over 50 years, first at
Temple Beth Or in Mt. Airy from 1962 to
1970. In 1970, Rabbi Frank became the spir-
itual leader of Temple Beth Torah, where he
would serve as the Rabbi of that congrega-
tion until his retirement from the pulpit in
1997. He was also Past President of the
Board of Rabbis of Greater Philadelphia. Pri-
or to moving to Philadelphia, Rabbi Frank
served as Assistant Rabbi at Congregation
B’nai Jehuda in Kansas City, MO. Rabbi Frank
was also an adjunct professor at LaSalle Col-
lege from 1964 to 1982. As a member of the
Department of Religious Studies, he taught
an elective course on Judaism. Enrollment in
his class was full for 18 consecutive years.
In addition to his class, Rabbi Frank estab-
lished a Jewish Student Union and Hillel
Chapter on campus and served for a period
as the campus chaplain. Rabbi Frank was
born to Sidney and Lillian Frank in New Or-
leans, Louisiana on October 1, 1932 and
grew up in Houston, Texas. He graduated
from San Jacinto Senior High in 1951. Rabbi
Frank was proud to be amongst the first
classes of students at Brandeis University in
Waltham, MA, studying Near Eastern and
Judaic Studies and Political Science, receiv-
ing a B.A. in 1955. He went on to attend the
Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Re-
ligion in Cincinnati, Ohio and was ordained as
a Rabbi in 1960. In 1985, he was awarded an
honorary Doctor of Divinity of Hebrew Let-
ters. While at Brandeis University, Rabbi
Frank met his future wife, and love of his life,
Toby Carol Pollack. The two would marry in
June 1956 and would be together for 55
years, until her death on March 1 st , 2013.
Further exemplifying their devotion to, and
true love for, each other, Rabbi Frank passed
away 5 years to the day of his beloved wife
Toby. He is survived by his two sons, Steven
and Michael (Betsy), daughter-in-law Joan,
and his four grandchildren, Jesse, Zoe, Ava
and Lily. Those who wish to further his
