He was 85. Rabbi Bernard Solis Frank served the Philadelphia com- munity as Rabbi for over 50 years, first at Temple Beth Or in Mt. Airy from 1962 to 1970. In 1970, Rabbi Frank became the spir- itual leader of Temple Beth Torah, where he would serve as the Rabbi of that congrega- tion until his retirement from the pulpit in 1997. He was also Past President of the Board of Rabbis of Greater Philadelphia. Pri- or to moving to Philadelphia, Rabbi Frank served as Assistant Rabbi at Congregation B’nai Jehuda in Kansas City, MO. Rabbi Frank was also an adjunct professor at LaSalle Col- lege from 1964 to 1982. As a member of the Department of Religious Studies, he taught an elective course on Judaism. Enrollment in his class was full for 18 consecutive years. In addition to his class, Rabbi Frank estab- lished a Jewish Student Union and Hillel Chapter on campus and served for a period as the campus chaplain. Rabbi Frank was born to Sidney and Lillian Frank in New Or- leans, Louisiana on October 1, 1932 and grew up in Houston, Texas. He graduated from San Jacinto Senior High in 1951. Rabbi Frank was proud to be amongst the first classes of students at Brandeis University in Waltham, MA, studying Near Eastern and Judaic Studies and Political Science, receiv- ing a B.A. in 1955. He went on to attend the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Re- ligion in Cincinnati, Ohio and was ordained as a Rabbi in 1960. In 1985, he was awarded an honorary Doctor of Divinity of Hebrew Let- ters. While at Brandeis University, Rabbi Frank met his future wife, and love of his life, Toby Carol Pollack. The two would marry in June 1956 and would be together for 55 years, until her death on March 1 st , 2013. Further exemplifying their devotion to, and true love for, each other, Rabbi Frank passed away 5 years to the day of his beloved wife Toby. He is survived by his two sons, Steven and Michael (Betsy), daughter-in-law Joan, and his four grandchildren, Jesse, Zoe, Ava and Lily. GOLDSTEINS’ ROSENBERG’S RAPHAEL-SACKS GRAVITZ A joyful, vibrant, loving and productive per- son, Jean was a skilled seamstress, tailor, fashion designer, home decorator, artist and swing dancer who died on March 18 at age 89. Jean left us not only with happy memor- ies but also with lasting original creations. She designed and sewed three wedding gowns. One for each of her two daughters and one for her niece. She designed and sewed many dresses, gowns, suits, coats, and overcoats for her family and for herself. For her home she made hand-sewn drapes, curtains, sofa and seat covers and much, much more. In needlepoint, she created many local and Israeli outdoor scenes plus an unusual one of the "Coca Cola" symbol written in Hebrew letters. Her crowning achievement was a reproduction of the twelve Chagall windows, five in needlepoint and sev- en in individual colored beads that shimmer like glass. Size 18 X 23 inches, all are framed in decorative wood. A fast, light-footed swing dancer, she shared many prizes won in dance contests on cruises and at Penns Landing. In Atlantic City, at the Sands Casino lounge, Jean and her husband won dance contests judged by the Geater, Jerry Blavat, and by the professional dancer who had given actor John Travolta dance lessons for two movies. On the night before the Sands Casino closed, Jean and her husband were guests at a private party where she danced with the CEO and her husband danced with the CEO's wife. Jean was truly a real WONDER WOMAN. Jean is survived by her broken-hearted hus- band, Arthur, and by five children. Daughters Phyllis (Michael), Linda (Dr. Richard), sons Joel (Kim), Bob (Stephanie), Bill, and by niece Paula Gordon (Allen). She leaves 9 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. She was 73. Ms. Timmons was born on January 18, 1945 in Philadelphia, PA to her parents Simon and Ruth Shuman. A graduate of Northeast High School, she raised her two daughters in Phil- adelphia, PA and in Columbia, MD, eventu- ally moving permanently to Las Vegas with her husband John Timmons, an Air Force veteran. Ms. Timmons was a kind and caring mother and grandmother (Bubbie) who loved being with family and friends, going to the movies, traveling, and playing the slots at her favorite casinos. She was a beautiful woman who touched the lives of many and was a true friend to everyone that knew her. Weitzman, 84, passed away March 26, 2018, at the Highlands of Wyo- missing. Born in Cincinnati, OH, he was the son of the late Isadore and Ella (Lisner) Weitzman. Alan was a graduate of the Uni- versity of Cincinnati and was ordained in 1960 as a Rabbi from the Hebrew Union Col- lege, Cincinnati, OH. He was a member and Rabbi of Temple Oheb Shalom, Wyomissing. In his later years, he was also the Rabbi of Temple Israel, Jonesboro, Arkansas. Alan was Director and Founder of Alvernia Seni- ors College and was one of the founders of The Greater Berks Food Bank, Wyomissing. He is survived by his two children, Ian H. (Ju- lie) Weitzman, Cherry Hill, NJ; and Ari D. Weitzman Esq. (Jodi Crowther), Harrisburg, PA. He is also survived by his two grandchil- dren, Elijah and Jacob. Wigrizer and Fay Adams; adoring grandfath- er of Justin, Michael, David, Danny, Jennie and Shari; great grandfather to Hunter and Jacob; a friend to many, and example to all, died peacefully February 24, 2018 at the age of 90, in the company of his family at his home in the Hopkinson House in Phil- adelphia. Mr. Wigrizer was born in Lawrence, Massachusetts to Morris and Jennie Wigrizer, both of whom narrowly escaped the pogroms in the Ukraine and Soviet Russia. Growing up, he attended Arlington element- ary school in Lawrence, Chauncy Hall Prep, and Northeastern College. In 1950, he gradu- ated cum laude from Boston University School of Law. In 1951, he married to De- vora (Dee) Anne Gordon of Nashua, New Hampshire, who he met while she was a stu- dent at Wellesley College. They lived togeth- er with their family in Philadelphia up until the time of her death in 2015. Following graduation, Mr. Wigrizer practiced law in Lawrence, Massachusetts until 1953, when he accepted a position as staff attorney with the IRS in Philadelphia. Over the coming years, Mr. Wigrizer quickly moved up the ranks, taking on increasing responsibilities, culminating in his appointment as Regional Counsel for the Mid-Atlantic Division. There- after, he was promoted to national positions in Revenue, serving as Director of the Crimin- al Tax Division and Deputy Chief Counsel. During his career with Revenue, he was in- volved in many high profile cases, including the prosecution of Congressman Edward Gallagher of New Jersey. In addition, in he was given sole responsibility for the investig- ation into the propriety of then-President Nix- on’s tax filings. In 1978, he became the Treasury Department’s first Inspector Gener- al under Michael Blumenthal and William Miller in the Carter administration. He organ- ized the office, formulated policies and pro- cedures, and significantly impacted the De- partment’s Integrity Programs. He worked on highly sensitive matters, and testified be- fore Congressional subcommittees. He also took part in an investigation of family mem- bers of high ranking elected officials. He re- tired with the change of administrations in 1981. Following nearly thirty years of service in federal government, in 1985 Mr. Wigrizer was appointed the City of Philadelphia’s first Inspector General by Mayor Wilson Goode, following a national search. He was charged with eliminating fraud, waste, abuse and cor- ruption. Working with law enforcement, he prosecuted a number of cases on the City’s behalf. During his tenure, he was respons- ible for nearly 400 corruption arrests and ad- ministrative job actions. When the adminis- tration changed, he became Commissioner of Licenses and Inspections for several months, during which time he initiated a number of successful prosecutions of corrupt inspect- ors. In 1991 he was appointed as SEPTA’s first Inspector General, where he remained until his retirement in 1997. Following his long and distinguished career in government, Mr. Wigrizer was a frequent speaker and con- tributor on government ethics and integrity, always emphasizing the fact that the vast ma- jority of government employees were decent and honorable men and woman, devoted to public service. During his lifetime, he was an accomplished amateur photographer, who exhibited his works world- wide, and was a frequent lecturer on advanced and novel pho- tographic techniques. He also developed an interest in computers in the early days of their development, and was a contributor to various computer magazines. His intellectual curiosity was always a part of his personality, and drove him to excel in all he did.
