STERN Irving L. Rubin on June 14, 2021. Dear
brother of Flossy (Bill) Clyman; Devoted
uncle of Melanie (Anthony) and Rona (Mi-
chael); Adoring great uncle of Lauren, A.J.,
Rebecca, Brieanna and Charlotte. Funeral ser-
vices were private. Irv was the most empath-
etic, warm, caring brother to his little sister,
Flossy. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed fish-
ing, and working out in the gym. He had a
strong work ethic and was just a nice guy to

Azriel Schmidt, age 72, passed away at his
home in Bryn Mawr, surrounded by family on
June 4, 2021. Beloved husband to Susan
(nee Eisenberg). Azi was born in Petach Tik-
vah, Israel in 1948. He served as a paratroop-
er in the Israel Defense Force and then stud-
ied biology at the University of Tel Aviv. He
earned his doctorate in virology at the Weiz-
mann Institute. He was a dedicated, talented
scientist who worked for many years at Mer-
ck. He married Susan in 1974 and they en-
joyed 46 years by each other’s side. They had
two children, Ben and Yael and five grand-
children. Azi had many interests and hobbies.

He was a music lover, an avid gardener and a
world traveler. He was a long-time member
of Temple Beth Hillel-Beth El in Wynnewood.

More than anything, he loved spending time
with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He will be missed by his close extended fam-
ily and friends. He is survived by Susan; his
brother Shlomo Shavit; his sister Ayalah
Klingman; his daughter Yael (Josh) Rosen;
his son Ben (Ann Vale) Schmidt; his grand-
children Jake, Sammy, Joey, Liza and
Jonathan. Services were held on June 6.

Contributions in his memory may be made to

Paul S. Schor, June 13, 2021; of Warminster,
PA. Beloved Husband of Doris (nee
Schuster); Father of Ilisa Smukler, the late

died peacefully after a short illness on Sat-
urday, May 1, 2021. She enjoyed living at La-
fayette Holy Redeemer and being with her
many friends and staff there. Eva enjoyed
ceramics, sculpting, exercising, playing ten-
nis, travel, and bridge. Only ten years ago she
was caught reading a book to improve her
bridge game. She could always suggest a
good book and liked us to make recommend-
ations for her reading. She had a lively sense
of humor and loved to laugh. Harold Stern,
her first cousin, would come down from Con-
necticut and celebrate the centenarian lunch-
eon where she was the oldest, and only res-
ident still living independently. We would go
to the Marco Polo restaurant for lunch and
after that we schmoozed in her lovely decor-
ated large apartment. Eva was very happy she
got to vote in the November 2020 election!
Eva was preceded in death by her beloved
husband, Henry, her parents, her sister who
she loved dearly and lost too early, and her
cousin Bill Levine. She is survived by her
cousin, Harold Stern (Sandra), her tireless
and loyal friend, Stan Dezure (Susan) and
many great-cousins. Eva is buried in Monte-
fiore Cemetery in Jenkintown, Pennsylvania,
next to Henry.

Estelle Shelansky died May 26th peacefully
surrounded by love ones. She is survived by
her loving Family, Husband Bill Shelansky,
Sister Cynthia, Brother Stewart (Arlene) Lieb-
man; Children Audrey (Jim), Mike (Marcie),
and Lori; Grandchildren Rachel, Matt (Erica),
Melissa, Andrew, Robert, Chaz, and Great
Grand Children Owen, Jillian, Caleb, Jack, Ad-
riana, and Maddie. Her memory is an inspira-
tion for all of us and she was loved by all who
knew her. Funeral services were held on
Sunday May 30, 2021 at Roosevelt Memorial
Park chapel and followed by interment.

Kenneth Syken age 92, passed away in Sara-
sota, Florida. Beloved husband to Sandra
Syken. He was born in South Philadelphia,
and maintained a residence in Ventnor, New
Jersey. Kenneth was the oldest of three chil-
dren of William and Ida Syken. His father
died of leukemia when Kenneth was four
years old. He helped the family by selling
newspapers at 5th and Market streets. He at-
tended South Philadelphia High School and
Temple and went on to become an editor of
the law review at Penn Law School. He
served in the Army upon graduation, work-
ing at the Judge Advocate General’s office in
Frankfurt, Germany. In Philadelphia he was a
partner in the firm of Richter, Syken & Ross.

He met Sandra Elner, another child of South
Philadelphia, at the Tamiment resort in the
Poconos. They married in 1962 and were by
each other’s side for the next 59 years. They
had two children, Marc, and William, and
moved to the suburb of Dresher, where they
lived along with his mother Ida. On long
summer weekends he enjoyed swimming in
the ocean, setting up on a beach chair and
holding court with family and friends, often
ordering steak sandwiches from Sack O’
Subs for dinner. An early riser, he would go
out in the morning and come home with a
newspaper and Hershey bars for his sons. He
is survived by Sandra; his brother Lewis; his
sons Marc (Lisa) and William (Jennifer), his
grandchildren Nathan and Emily, and his
step-grandchildren Lucy and Phoebe. He will
be greatly missed. He was a friend to all who
knew him. Services and interment were
private. Contributions in his memory may be

UFBERG Michael H. Ufberg, 79, of Allentown, PA,
passed away peacefully at home on Saturday,
June 12, 2021. Known lovingly as ‘Mickey’ to
friends and family, he leaves behind his be-
loved wife, Eileen, of 54 years. Born in
Shamokin, PA, Mickey is the son of the late
Helen and David Ufberg, and brother to Nan-
cian and Carol. He is survived by his children,
David, Jacob, Larry, Bonnie & Matthew, and
his 16 grandchildren. Mickey graduated with
honors from Temple University Medical
School and practiced Gastroenterology for
over 40 years. He selflessly served the Le-
high Valley community with distinction, earn-
ing numerous awards for his clinical expert-
ise, exemplary teaching, and compassionate
care. He was particularly proud to serve as
Chief of Gastroenterology at Lehigh Valley
Hospital, and served as President of the
Health Care Council of Eastern Pennsylvania.

He lived a life of service, always readily avail-
able to patients, and generously willing to
donate his medical care to those in need. He
was a pillar of the Jewish Community. Loc-
ally, he was an active member of Congrega-
tion Sons of Israel, served as President and
16 year Board member of the Jewish Day
School, was President of the Jewish Federa-
tion, and served as Campaign Chairman, on
multiple occasions. He was a founder and
President of the Maimonides Society of Al-
lentown, coordinating Jewish Physicians to
help those in need, and helped establish the
Gastroenterology wing at the Western Galilee
Hospital in Israel. His family and his friends
were the center of his life. He strongly in-
stilled in his children the importance of fam-
ily. Mickey’s wisdom and kindness were only
exceeded by his selflessness and humility. He
was a true patriarch, admired and respected,
and a role model to all who were lucky
enough to know him. Memorial contribu-

Albert Turek passed away on the morning of
May 30, 2021, at the age of 95. Devoted and
loving husband of Phyllis Turek for 67 years,
dedicated and loving father of Joseph (Ren-
ee) and Ellen (Stan), adoring Papa of Adam
(Sarah), Hallie (Sam), Rebecca, and
Shoshana, and great-grandfather of Daniel. A
man of the highest integrity, a decorated war
hero and a respected businessman, he foun-
ded Turek Associates, the largest consulting
engineering firm in Northern New Jersey at
that time. A gentle giant with a heart of gold,
he touched many lives and will be missed by
