DEATH NOTICES
RAWDIN Eugene Rawdin, PhD of Elkins Park, an en-
gineer whose career focused on innovating
and designing space and defense systems,
passed away on April 25, 2020 from complic-
ations from heart failure. Dr. Rawdin was 90.

A graduate of Brooklyn Polytechnic, Dr.

Rawdin received his PhD from the University
of Pennsylvania, Moore College of Engineer-
ing. Dr. Rawdin began his career in 1953 dur-
ing the Korean War as a commissioned of-
ficer in the Air Force. That same year, he
married his life’s love, Nona Neubauer, and
started a family of four children. Upon dis-
charge, Dr. Rawdin joined IBM, working in
the engineering group on projects including
mainframe-computing innovations. Most of
his career was spent at RCA and GE, focus-
ing on radar, defense, and space systems.

Dr. Rawdin was a life-long learner and teach-
er who frequently gave guest lectures at insti-
tutions including his alma mater. Foremost
was his love of family. He was married for 67
years and is survived by his adoring wife
Nona “Cookie”; four children, Scott (Alice),
Janis Rawdin-Walcoff (George, deceased),
Grant (Laura), and Suann Shuster (Robert); 8
grandchildren, Yasha, Alex, Jacob, Jesse (de-
ceased), Sydney, Jordan, Aaron, and Rachel;
and 1 great-grandchild, Penelope. Graveside
services with military honors took place on
April 28th. The Airforce’s Thunderbirds and
Navy’s Blue Angels fittingly performed a fly-
over that day. A memorial service will take
place at a later date. Donations in Dr.

ish Federation of Greater Philadelphia.

REBER Charlotte R. Reber (nee Diamond) on June
16, 2020. Wife of the late Marvin. Mother of
Joan (Richard) Raisman and Lynn Reber;
also survived by 6 grandchildren and 8 great-
grandchildren. Graveside Services are
private. Contributions in her memory may be

or Holy Redeemer Hospice.

ROSENBERG Doris M. Rosenberg (nee Grunes) age 86,
passed away on May 27, 2020. Beloved wife
of the late Alvin S. Rosenberg; Loving moth-
er of Mitchell Rosenberg (Nancy), Robin
Rosenberg, Nancy Dubin (Jeff); Adoring
Mommom of Laine Dubin, Jae Dubin, Jesse
Brown (Carol), Jacob Brown, and Joshua
Brown (Meghan). Great-grandmother of
Archer Brown. Loving and involved aunt and
great-aunt, friend to many. Doris loved to
play tennis, mah-jongg and canasta, be at the
Jersey shore and spend time with her family.

Doris also loved music and danced in the
streets of Paris. The family intends a private
graveside service. Contributions in her

Anita Rosenstein (nee Dickler), on May 22,
2020. Devoted wife of 64 years to the late
Fred L. Rosenstein, mother of Jack and Beryl
Rosenstein and Carol and Joel Silver. Lov-
ing grandmother of Brian and Amy Rosen-
stein, Mark and Jennifer Rosenstein, Richard
and Kerri Silver and Jonathan and Pam Sil-
ver. Adored Gi-Gi to Evan, Eve, Sean, Chase,
Lucas, and Jacob. Sister of Gerri and Ron
Fash, Marvin and Mickey Dickler, the late
Herbert Dickler, and the late Joan Dickler Ber-
man. She will also be missed by sister-in-
law Leatrice Dickler, brother-in-law Arnold
Berman and his companion Elaine Lutz, as
well as many loving nieces and nephews.

William (Bill) Rudnick, 88, of North Wild-
wood, NJ passed away on June 17, 2020. Bill
was a machinist at Philadelphia Gear Corp.

for 40 years until his retirement in 1992. Bill
had several jobs after his retirement, worked
at Morey’s pier, worked at several auto part
stores, Wawa, etc. His hobbies in his earlier
years were boating, casino’s and he loved
going to the race track, you would find him
betting on the horses, always with this
cigar.& he loved his rose garden. He is sur-
vived by his wife of 68 years, Sandy, his
daughters Marilyn (Chris) and Sheila (Rick) ,
grandchildren Kevin (Liz) and Kelly and 4
great granddaughters, Alex, Bailey, Charlotte
and Harper. Graveside services were private.

band of the late Annette (Leonard). Father of
Natasha (Michael) Goldberg, Margo Rosen-
blatt and Lisa Addis. Stepfather of Joel (Jen-
nifer) Cohen and Barry (Rachel) Kramer. Also
survived by 5 grandchildren. Mr. Ross was
an Investment Banker and College Professor
at Drexel University. He was a Philanthropist
and active in the Jewish Community. Addi-
tionally, he volunteered for many causes and
won Volunteer of the Year two twice from the
Jewish Federation. Private Graveside Ser-
vices are being held. Contributions in his

SCHECTER Anita Evelyn Wene Schecter, 82, of Phil-
adelphia, passed away suddenly on June 2,
2020. She was born to the late Herman and
Pearl Wene, on April 9, 1938, in Philadelphia.

Anita attended Girls High School and later
Temple University where she studied biology
and cartography. She married Edward
Schecter on June 19, 1960, and they lived to-
gether in the Philadelphia area for their entire
lives. Anita is survived by her husband of al-
most 60 years, Edward, her four children:
Laura Rawdin (Grant), Jennifer (Joseph Gold-
berg), Suzanne (Eric Callahan), and K. Ma-
son (Liana Clark) and her five grandchildren;
Aaron, Rachel, Madeline, Julia and Zara. She
is also survived by her sister, Frances Collin
and her brother, Jay Wene. In addition to her
family Anita had many interests including
knitting sweaters and scarves for her chil-
dren and grandchildren, weaving (she was a
member of the Weaver’s Guild for several
years), reading and walking in the park, but
definitely not cooking. She had a green
thumb for plants that cooperated with her,
and a warm heart. She was the glue that held
together the many parts of her extended fam-
ily and she will be sorely missed. Funeral ser-
vices were private. In lieu of flowers, dona-
tions in her name may be made to The Jew-
ish Federation and/or Planned Parenthood.

SCHIMMEL Marvin Schimmel, May 22, 2020 of Bala Cyn-
wyd, PA. Our beloved Marvin, 93, passed
away after a brief illness. Until his death, he
was President of the family business Royal
Electric Supply Company. A graduate of Penn
State University and a veteran of the Mer-
chant Marines, Marvin was an avid tennis
player until time caught up with his knees. He
also loved the Philly Pops, swimming, and
Penn State Nittany Lions football. His friends
from Penn State were his lifelong pals. A
long-suffering Eagles fan (except for 2019),
he loved watching tennis, and watching Phil-
lies games. He was comfortable around
power tools and electrical components, but
the kitchen proved more of a challenge. His
favorite color was yellow and his favorite
food was anything chocolate! A consummate
entertainer, he loved planning and hosting
elaborate parties. He is survived by his long-
time partner and beloved bashert of 55 years

(Richard Heidorn) Eisner-Heidorn, Michael
“Randy” (Wendy Sakol) Goldner and Meg
Goldner Rabinowitz; his grandchildren Justin,

Lily, Ben, Zach, and Simon, and great-grand-
son Cyrus Goldner. He is also survived by his
nephews Robert, Lawrence (Marla), William
(Kathy) and nieces Roseanne and Lynelle
(Richard). He is also survived by his wife
Barbara Schimmel. He was pre-deceased by
his parents Rose and Joseph Schimmel and
his siblings Irwin Schimmel, Paul Schimmel,
