Bernice Helen Brooks (nee Blumberg) of Rye,
N.Y. and formerly of Philadelphia and Haver-
town, PA., died on Tuesday, November 6,
2018 at the age of 94. Devoted wife, mother,
grandmother, and friend, she is missed every
day. Bernice loved nature—flowers, sunsets,
and the moon in the night sky brought her
joy and a sense of serenity. Bernice loved
music, dancing, theater and the visual
arts—and she shared her passion for the arts
with others. Most of all, Bernice loved her
friends and family—to be in the company of
those who mattered most was her greatest
pleasure and source of comfort. Bernice be-
lieved in lucky pennies, writing SWAK on en-
velopes and saying, “so long,” never good-
bye. She believed in the healing touch of an-
other’s hand, a kiss on the cheek, and the
love we show from simply showing up. Every
meal she created was “made with love and
kisses.” Bernice is survived by her husband
of 70 years, Max, her children Ellen (Mar-
shall Cohen) and Craig, and grandchildren
Lizzie, Rob, Julia and Sara. The funeral was
