of Philadelphia, Pa. Beloved mother of Lynne
Davis and Marcy Davis. Also survived by
many other loving friends and family. Bertie,
was a giving and caring person and loved an-

Sunday December 23, 2018 at Joseph Lev-

Helen Desman (nee Rosenblatt) died on
December 26, 2018 in Tucson, Arizona at the
miraculous age of 95. Helen Rosenblatt was
born on November 29, 1923, to her parents,
Charles and Sabina Rosenblatt. She gradu-
ated from high school and moved to Denver,
Colorado and went to beauty school and was
a hair stylist until she met and married Daniel
Desman. They resided in Philadelphia most
of their lives. Helen is survived by her daugh-
ter-in-law and granddaughter, Shelley and
Charli Desman of Huntingdon Valley, PA,
son, Mark Desman and his son, Artem of Ex-
ton, PA, her daughter and her son-in-law,
Robin Desman and Paul Spindt of Tucson,
AZ. She is preceded in death by her hus-
band, Daniel, her son, Michael, and her
brothers and sister, Jack, Isaac, Harold, and

away peacefully on January 11, 2019. Born
and raised in Philadelphia, PA, she resided in
Boca Raton, FL since 1997. Vera will be re-
membered for her endless devotion to her
family – who she loved immensely – her
gourmet meals, and fierce devotion to any
Philadelphia sports team. She is survived by
her beloved husband, Martin, four children,
Ricki Evans Ousterman, Caren Evans, Noel
Evans and Ellyn Evans Small, as well as her
grandchildren, Kyle Ousterman, Ryan Ouster-

Formerly of Penn Valley, PA. Wife of the late
David B. Einstein. Devoted mother of Alan

Micale), and Joan (Fred) Weinstein. Sister of
both the late Bernard and Robert Mishkin and
the late Betty Orbach. Also survived by 11
grandchildren, 11 great grand children, and

ENGEL Elayne “Chippy” Engel (nee Millis) (84)
passed away after a long illness on January
22, 2019. Chippy is survived by her husband
Eli, her children Tracey & Martin from her
first marriage to Freddy Ludwin, and her step
children Dina, Tracy, & Brian. She is also
survived by her sisters Renee & Harriet, as
well as her 7 grandchildren, Maia, Carley, Isa-
bella, Brent, Samson, Avery, and Sydni. A
graduate of Columbia Institute, she loved to
laugh, dance and was a ton of fun! She was a
loving wife, mother & friend. Chippy was be-
nevolent and loved helping others in any way
she could. She was a good ear and shoulder
to those who needed it, and will be missed by

Philadelphia) passed peacefully in his sleep
on January 6, 2019; loving father of David

Phyllis Segal Giller passed away peacefully
on Tuesday, January 1, 2019, after a cour-
ageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease. She
was 80. She was a devoted and loving wife to
Frederick Giller for 55 years. Born in the Lo-
gan section of Philadelphia, she was the
daughter of the late Samuel and Ethel Mintz
Segal. Phyllis was vibrant and full of life. She
was extremely talented with her needlepoint
and knitting. Her knitted sweaters were gor-
geous, unique and colorful, much like her
personality. She enjoyed the beach, her
friends, racquetball, tennis, and was gifted
with a “green thumb” for nurturing her house
plants to the skill level of a master gardener.
She loved to wander through art museums.
She enjoyed dancing, the theater, musicals
and watching her grandchildren perform. Her
children and grandchildren were always her
crowning achievement in life. In addition to
her husband, Phyllis is survived by her lov-
ing children, Bryan and Maryanne Giller, and
William and Karen Stanell; as well as her four
grandchildren; Steven and David Giller and
Samuel and Benjamin Stanell. Services will

GOLDBERG Gerald (Jerry) Goldberg, "Pepop", age 85, of
Boynton Beach, Florida, (formerly of Egg Har-
bor Township, Ventnor, Pennsauken, and
Philadelphia, Pa.,) passed away on January
10, 2019, as a result of Alzheimer’s disease.
Jerry was born in Philadelphia and gradu-
ated from Central High School, class 196.
After serving in the Army, in his earlier years
Jerry owned his own dry cleaning business
and laundromat in Camden, NJ. In his later
years Jerry worked at various casinos in At-
lantic City and for 15 years at Trump Plaza as
a supervisor. He enjoyed riding his bike on
the AC Boardwalk, playing cards, going to the
movies, and mostly hanging with his beloved
family. He was a true Philadelphia sports fan
especially cheering on the 76ers. His favorite
meal was a cheesesteak (wit) at Pat's Steak.
Jerry is predeceased by his parents, Rose
and Morris Goldberg, his sister, Irene Fish-
bein, and his son in law, Dr. Donald Juros.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife, and best
friend of 65 years, Roberta (nee) Burgis.
Jerry is also survived by his children, Mark
(Letecia) of Frisco, Texas; Penny (Michael)
Bilker of Egg Harbor Township, NJ; Susan
(Greg) Emarine of New Castle, Colorado; two
grandchildren, Faith (Arthur) Manelis, Chad
(Lauren) Juros, and two great grandchildren,
Dalia and Adam Manelis. Jerry is also sur-
vived by step grandchildren Farrah (Austin)
Hoffman, and Michael Rice, and step great
grandchildren Ethan, Madison, Katelynn and
Kimberly, Additionally, Jerry is survived by
his brother and sisters in laws, Melvin and
Valerie Burgis, Stan and Wyleen Burgis, and
William Fishbein. A memorial service will be
held in South Jersey. In lieu of flowers the

away comfortably at home surrounded by his
family. He was the eldest son of Miriam &
Ben Goldenberg, brother of Robert and Elaine
Tavel (deceased). Loving husband for 70
years to Peggy Kay Goldenberg. Father of
Bonnie Kay (Bruce) Marks, and Glenn (Vivi-
an) Goldenberg; exemplary grandfather of
Micah (Amy) Kagan, Aaron (Emily)Marks,
and Hannah Marks (David Charny). Adoring
great grandfather of 4 beautiful children.
Family was very important to him and he
maintained close ties with many cousins. He
was a Coast Guard Veteran and volunteer fire
fighter in the early 1950’s. A graduate of
Temple University with a Bachelor of Science
in 1951. He was a lifelong student of art, for-
eign languages and pursued knowledge of
the sciences and geography though reading.
He studied art at the Barnes Institute which
informed his desire to collect art which he
pursued locally and while traveling around
the world. He specialized in collecting old
maps. Additionally, he was an artist himself
and took up welding creating whimsical and
abstract pieces from scrap metal that he gave
to people who expressed interest in his work.
He was extremely handy and took great
pleasure in making repairs around the house.
Stanley had a successful business career in
the retail field. He served as a confidant and
adviser to many who came for his counsel.
He was a lover of the out doors whether fish-
ing, hiking, sailing or camping. Especially
with his grandchildren. He was a dapper
dresser, frequently sporting a bowtie and
Panama hat. He cut a fine figure of a man. He
and his wife Peggy loved to entertain in their
gracious home inviting friends and family of
all ages. He was a lover of life and will be
missed by all those who came within his or-
