GOLDSTEINS’ ROSENBERG’S
RAPHAEL-SACKS TECOSKY
Evelyn Tecosky, a self-taught paper conser-
vator who volunteered at many Philadelphia
museums, died peacefully on Dec 24, 2017
surrounded by family. She was 92. A lifelong
Philadelphia resident, she was born June 29,
1925 and grew up in the Logan neighbor-
hood with her two sisters and parents Harry
and Sarah Marmorstein. Evelyn loved jazz
and classical music, "consumed" books of all
kinds, and was active politically in the Wo-
men Strike for Peace organization in the
1960s. As a mother, she instilled staunch in-
dependence in her children as well as her
love of reading (and crosswords). She was
an intrepid traveler, especially by train, both
alone and with family, seeking out art and
theater. She didn't like things too fancy, and
didn't mind roughing it, participating in two
archaeological digs. Evelyn was a champion
of Center City Philadelphia, especially the
Rittenhouse Square area, where she took her
grandchildren to play on the goat statue. She
was an avid walker into her 80s, and shared
her passion for urban architecture with every-
one who would listen. In her 60s, Evelyn
began volunteering for the Library Company
of Philadelphia, where she acquired skills in
paper conservation. She had a fascination for
old documents and photographs, and loved
handling and preserving them. She took
these skills with her to the library at the
Academy of Natural Sciences, the Franklin In-
stitute and the Atwater Kent museum. Evelyn
was a life-long philanthropist, donating to
cultural, educational, charitable and pro-
gressive causes. She was equally generous
with her family. Evelyn was widowed in 1968
when her husband, Larry Tecosky, died sud-
denly. She is survived by her children Bill,
Joan, Amy, and Jeff; her daughters-in-law
Trish and Amy; her sisters Lynore and Bar-
bara; her grandchildren Ramona, Olivia, Leo,
Isaac, Eleanor and Jacob; and her great-
grandchildren Enzo, Akira, Penelope and Juli-
en. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made
to The International Rescue Committee at
help.rescue.org/donate. Funeral services are

tion. Her greatest source of pride and delight
was her family. In lieu of flowers, memorial

Stanford Roland “Stan” Zukin, 77, of West
Chester, PA, died peacefully at home on
January 15, 2018, with his family and dearest
friends surrounding and embracing him.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, on August 27,
1940, to parents Solomon and Rose (née
Garland), Stan grew up in a loving family with
his devoted older sister, Marcia, and identic-
al twin brother, Ronald. From the time they
were born and well into their adulthood, Stan
and Ronald shared a communication that was
almost telepathic and a love for mischief that
was always undone by their wry but conta-
gious full-face smiles. When he was thirteen,
Stan met the love of his life, his guiding light,
Elsa (née Rothstein). Stan spied Elsa at the
corner candy store in Philadelphia’s Logan
neighborhood and he was hooked. Following
their courtship through their teens at Olney
High School, Stan and Elsa married in 1961.
Their connection somehow was deeper than
a marriage. They were bonded, cemented, af-
fixed and attached to one another. Stan and
Elsa were each other’s brace, buoy and
biggest fan. A graduate of Temple
University’s School of Pharmacy in 1962,
Stan along with his brother, Ronald, also a
graduate of Temple, bought Thatcher’s Phar-
macy on Market Street in West Chester in
1966. Stan always said that his customers
were like his extended family. Later, the phar-
macy was moved to its expanded location at
Gay and Walnut Streets. At age 55, Stan re-
tired from practicing pharmacy and expan-
ded his already-successful real estate hold-
ings in West Chester and surrounding com-
munities. At around the same, Stan’s son,
Wayne, a recovering lawyer, began his own
real estate development business in Phil-
adelphia with his dad as his lead investor.
Stan’s other son, Scott, left his cabinetmak-
ing profession to help Stan grow Zukin Re-
alty and transform West Chester into the
thriving community that it is today. Daughter
Lori embraced her father’s entrepreneurial
spirit and created Zukin Leadership specializ-
ing in executive coaching and leadership con-
sulting. Stan’s three children look forward to
working together to continue what their fath-
er began. Just a few weeks ago, Stan looked
out across the sea of broad smiles on the
faces of his three beloved children — Wayne
(Sue Smith); Scott (Jeanenne Browning); and
Lori (Michael Rotker) and seven adored
grandchildren (Max, Isaac, Lily, Evan, Adam,
Rose and Mark), swung his head from side to
side in contentment and awe, took Elsa’s
hand and said “Look at us, Bubby. We’re just
two pishers from Logan. Look at what we
made.” Right up until the end, when Stan and
Elsa walked down a street or a corridor or
just about anywhere, they always held hands.
