Harriet Andrussier (nee Elitzky), January 27,
2018. Wife of the late Roy. Mother of Sean
(Rachel) and Craig (Renee). Grandmother of
Alex, Hanna and Daniel. They meant the
world to her. She was one of a kind, an amaz-
ing bubby, and loved dearly. She will be
sorely missed and live in our hearts forever.

Alvin H. Barkan, age 80, died on February 9,
2018, in Philadelphia, PA. He was born in
Philadelphia on October 15, 1937. He is pre-
deceased by his wife, Susan A Barkan (died
2003). He embraced life fully, with curiosity,
humor and energy. He loved people and
lived outside convention, with no apologies.

He will be remembered and missed by his
many friends, family, colleagues, Lion broth-
ers, Enterprise buddies, Uber passengers,
Celestia choir members, and his children, Ari
Barkan of Philadelphia and Jill Barkan of New
York, and his son-in-law Christopher Nelson,
and his grandchildren Jonas, Ethan and Zoe
Nelson-Barkan of New York. Contributions in

Joseph "Joey" Baskin died Jan. 15, 2018. He
was the loving son of Jeffrey and Lisa Berger
Baskin, the adoring brother of Sophie Baskin,
and grandson of Barbara and the late Allan J.

Berger and the late Deborah and the late
Joseph M. Baskin. Also surviving are his
aunts; Judy and Barbara Baskin, Andrea and
Rachel Berger and uncles; Richard Tassano,
Adam and Jonathan Berger. Services were
held Jan. 19 th at Main Line Reform Temple.

BERGER Hilda "Honey" Berger, Feb 18, 2018. For
more than forty years she was employed at
National Publishing company. She is sur-
vived by loving relatives. Graveside services

BERNSTEIN BROWN
Richard Brown, on January 19, 2018. Lov-
ing and Devoted Husband to Glorya, beloved
father to Lauren Spicehandler and Janis
Wilkoff, father in law, grandfather and great-
grandfather. Born in Philadelphia in 1929,
Mr. Richard Brown graduated with honors
from Central High School in the "Illustrious
188” class and later graduated from Temple
University’s School of Business with a de-
gree in accounting. He served as a First Lieu-
tenant in the United States Air Force during
the Korean conflict. Mr. Brown loved being
athletic and blessed with his height and bas-
ketball skills, played briefly on the Temple
University men’s basketball team. He had an
outstanding career in the Furniture Industry
for more than 40 years. He was greatly re-
spected by his peers and clients throughout
the Delaware Valley. Mr. Brown was recog-
nized 3 times as the Furniture Salesman of
the Year, in the Tri-State area. His most im-
portant role was that of Head of a Family,
who adored and loved him enormously. He
will be sorely missed. Please make any dona-

Gerald Chmar, age 85, died on January 21,
2018. He was a retired band leader who
resided in Philadelphia, PA. Husband of
Evelyn (nee Albert); father of Alan Chmar,
Ronald (Donna) Chmar, Joy (Marc) Schles-
singer, Melanie (Stephen Frisch) Chmar, and
Michael Chmar; and grandfather of Jessica,
Jackson and Emma. Contributions in his

Leonard Cobrin, a retired Philadelphia Re-
altor, passed away today at the age of 98. He
was born at home on January 20, 1920 in the
Strawberry Mansion neighborhood of Phil-
adelphia, PA. The youngest of four children,
he moved with his family to Wynnefield two
years later. Mr. Cobrin would go on to live in
that neighborhood for the majority of his life,
with the exception of a three-year period
spent serving his country overseas. He atten-
ded Overbrook High School and in 1942
entered the Army Reserve. Mr. Cobrin
shipped out the following year and was sta-
tioned in Saipan in the Pacific theater for the
duration of World War II. Upon his exit from
the service in 1946, he worked for his
father's real estate company, Benjamin
Cobrin & Company. Later that year, he be-
came president of the business, which he
would lead until its sale in 1992. He stayed
on as a consultant util his retirement in 2008.

In his 60 years in the business, he was
known as a staunch advocate of equal oppor-
tunity housing. One of his proudest accom-
plishments as a Realtor was his role in help-
ing to create a relationship between the
Pennsylvania real estate industry and the
Philadelphia and Pennsylvania Human Rela-
tions Commissions. In addition to his term as
the president of the Greater Philadelphia As-
sociation of Realtors in 1969, he also served
on the executive board of the Pennsylvania
Association of Realtors.He is remembered as
a patron the arts with a special fondness for
musical theater. Mr. Cobrin is survived by his
son Jeffrey and his partner of 32 years, Son-
dra "Sandy" Gittis, as well as her three daugh-
ters, three son-in-laws and seven grandchil-
dren. There will be a memorial held at a later

Stephen Distell, January 18, 2018. Husband

Distell, Bruce (Sally) Distell, Brad (Andrea)
Heffler, Curt (Karen) Heffler and Allen (Ruth)
Heffler. Brother of Joan (Arnold) Goldstone
and Marlene Faust. Also survived by 14
grandchildren. He was a graduate of Temple
Univ. and was the owner of Distell Realtors
and built luxury homes on the Main Line and
Longport, NJ. He was a longtime resident of
Phila., Margate, NJ and Boynton Beach, FL.

He was a lifelong Philly sports fan. Contribu-

Alvin Foreman passed away on January 18,
2018 in Naples, FL where he resided for the
past 14 years. Son of Barney and Sadie Fore-
man in Philadelphia, PA in 1918. Alvin was a
veteran of the United States Army Air Force
serving during WWll. He was married to the
love of his life, Rae Kaufman for 76 years.

Alvin was a manufacturer of ladies hats for
55 years. An avid sports fan who loved the
Eagles and all Philadelphia sports teams; he
enjoyed the beauty of Naples, FL. Alvin is sur-
vived by his son, Jay Foreman (Charlotte);
two grandchildren, Brett Foreman(Laura aka
Lola) and Justine Foreman (Greg); and nieces
and nephews. He was preceded in death by
his wife, Rae Foreman who passed away on
December 24, 2017. A Graveside Service was
held on Sunday, January 21, 2018 at Hodges
Funeral Home at Naples Memorial
