JOSEPH LEVINE and SONS
SHAFRITZ Hadassah (Das) Shafritz (nee Weitzel), 89,
formerly of Merion, on November 23 rd . Das
co-founded and taught music and Yiddish at
Suburban Jewish school in the 1960s. She
was a Pioneer Women council president and
active in other Jewish agencies. She also co-
founded and organized the highly-regarded
Bala-Cynwyd library “Sundays at 3” music
series and participated in library reading pro-
grams, various PTAs and the Lower Merion
school board. Das thrived on everything cre-
ative. She sculpted, painted, crafted and re-
paired her home. If music was playing, she’d
be dancing, humming, whistling, or singing
along. If nothing was playing, she’d make her
own music. She was always the best dancer
on the floor, a professional singer in Yiddish,
Hebrew, and English, and an actor. Das loved
everything purple, chocolate and bargains,
but most of all she loved her family. A won-
derful wife, mother, grandmom, great-grand-
mom, aunt, cousin, and overall person. She
is already much missed by Arnold, her be-
loved husband of 70 years, family/relatives
and friends. She will remain near most of her
family in Simi Valley, CA.
