PRESSMAN ROSENBERG
Violet R London Marcus passed away on
Tuesday, August 11, 2020 six weeks shy of
her 100th birthday. She was predeceased by
husband Sam, son Alby, daughter-in-law
Maxine, parents Albert & Sarah Walkow Lon-
don and sisters Hilda Lebovitz & Lilyan Lon-
don. Violet was a trailblazer and a trendsetter
whether as a highly requested special educa-
tion teacher without a college degree, receiv-
ing a Master’s degree without a Bachelors
degree or during her illustrious career as an
investigator with Equal Employment Oppor-
tunity Commission. Violet was devoted to vo-
lunteering in both the Jewish and civic com-
munities, especially her beloved Rodef Sha-
lom Congregation which bestowed on her
many honors for her years of dedicated ser-
vice. She was a JAA Eight Over Eighty
honoree, Israel Bonds Chai Tea honoree and
was honored by Ladies Hospital Aide Society.

In addition, she was honored as an outstand-
ing alumna of Pitt’s Graduate School of Pub-
lic & International Affairs. Violet is survived
by her sons Harold and wife Maureen, Chuck
and wife Ilene & daughter-in-law Nancy. She
was the adored Grandma Vi to Josh Marcus
and Amy & Kevin Segal. Her favorite title was
Gigi to the love of her life her great grand-
daughter Morgan. The family extends heart-
felt gratitude to our dear friends Judy Cascio
and Sally Seed whose love and care for Vi en-
hanced her life beyond measure. Graveside
service at Beth Shalom Cemetery Thursday,
August 13 1:00 pm. Masks & social distan-
cing required. Service and Thursday shiva
will be Zoomed. Family suggests contribu-
tions to Rodef Shalom Biblical Botannical
Garden or a charity of choice.

Myron E. Miller, on August 7, 2020, age 75
years, of Mount Laurel, NJ. Beloved husband
of Elise (nee Friedman) Miller, Loving father
of Miriam (Michael) Wolk, brother of Ronald
Miller (Susan Freifeld) and devoted grand-
father of Noah. Retired supervisor at the
Naval Aviation Inventory Control Point, De-
partment of Defense. Member of Temple
Emanuel, Cherry Hill and its Men’s Club; the
Katz JCC, Cherry Hill; South Jersey Men’s
Club; Jewish War Veterans Post 126 and the
National Association of Retired Federal Em-

PEIN John Murray Ravin MD, 82, of Las Vegas,
NV, passed away on Tuesday, August 11,
2020. Beloved husband of Rita Salus Ravin.

Dear father of Wendy (David) Selman, Seth
(Janet) Ravin and Sean (Sarah) Ravin. Proud
grandfather of Maxwell, Rowan, Natalie and
Joshua. John was born in Philadelphia in
1938 to the late Solomon and Anna Kesser
Ravin. He was a graduate of Temple Uni-
versity and Hahnemann Medical College. He
was a Board Certified physician in adult,
child, adolescent and forensic psychiatry.

John was a Major in the United States Air
Force in Biloxi Mississippi. Following his mil-
itary service, John practiced in San Bern-
ardino, CA for several years before relocating
his medical practice to the Torrance/Palos
Verdes, CA area. He retired to Las Vegas in
1995. Funeral services and interment were
held on August 14 at the King David Memori-
al Chapel and Cemetery, Las Vegas.

Shirley Pein (nee Schlessinger), died July 25,
2020. Wife of the late Harry. Mother of Carol
Sanders, Steven (Janice) Pein and Deborah
(Rob, Esq.) Saltzman. Sister of Frances Cut-
ler Hahn. Graveside services will be held
Tuesday, July 28, 11 AM precisely at

July 29, 2020. Manya, the youngest of ten
children, grew up in Poland. During the war,
she survived eight concentration camps and
lost her parents and five of her siblings. She
felt it was her mission to tell her story so that
such atrocities should not happen again. She
touched the lives of thousands of students by
sharing her testimony. She is survived by her
children, Marvin (Lois) Perel and Sylvia
(Mark) Wagman; grandchildren, Evan (Yael
Aschner), Andrew, and Daniel Perel, Rina
(Andrew Schwartz) and Jeffrey Wagman; and
great granddaughters, Talia and Mira Perel.

Burial will take place in a private ceremony at
Shalom Memorial Park in Huntingdon Valley,

Rhoda Dove Polish, 92, of Philadelphia, PA,
passed away peacefully on August 16, 2020
of natural causes. Rhoda was born in Phil-
adelphia, PA on December 19,1927; daugh-
ter of the late Dr. Louis Bernard and Francis
Schatz; wife of the late Dr. Edwin Polish;
mother of the late Elizabeth Joy Polish. She is
survived by her sons Dr. Louis Polish (De-
borah Schapiro) and Philip Polish. Rhoda
graduated from Girls High, the University of
Pennsylvania and received her Master’s de-
gree in Library Science from Drexel Uni-
versity. For many years she was the Chief In-
formation Specialist at the College of Physi-
cians in Philadelphia. Rhoda was a long-time
patron of the Philadelphia Orchestra, the
Curtis Institute of Music and Astral Artists.

She loved literature, the arts, traveling and
the pursuit of life-long learning. The family is
extremely grateful to the Department of Fam-
ily Medicine and the nurses on 5 Center at
Jefferson University Hospital, the staff at At-
ria Senior Living, and especially to Dr. Mi-
chael Schwartz. Memorial contributions may
be made in Rhoda’s name to the Curtis Insti-
tute of Music, The Philadelphia Orchestra,

89, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July
26, 2020 at the home of her son and daugh-
ter-in-law. Lois was born in Philadelphia, PA
to the late Harry and Anna Krouse, the first of
three sisters. Orphaned at age 11, she grew
up in the Jewish Home and various foster
homes. She graduated from Olney H.S. then
met and married her soul mate, Samuel
Rosenberg (of Strawberry Mansion) after a
whirlwind romance. Lois and Sammy relo-
cated to the new suburb of Levittown, PA in
the mid-fifties, where Lois, the ultimate bala-
busta, created a kosher home to raise their
two children. They joined Congregation Beth
El which became the focal point of their reli-
gious life. Lois had a beautiful soprano voice
and became a valued member of the syn-
agogue choir for over 30 years. They hosted
many holiday and Sedar dinners, and were
exuberant participants in multiple Broadway
shows at Temple Shalom. She loved becom-
ing a Bubbi and doted on every one of her
grandchildren and great grandchildren. Los-
ing her beloved Sammy, she joined the Wid-
ow and Widowers Club and traveled extens-
ively including two trips to Israel. Relocating
to Jenkintown, PA she joined Keneseth Israel
(KI) and immediately became a member of
the choir of which she remained until she
could no longer travel. The rabbi, the cantor,
the choir, and synagogue members of KI be-
came her extended family and she enjoyed
seeing them weekly. Lois was predeceased
by her parents, Harry and Anna Krouse; her
beloved husband, Sammy; her sister Roberta
Kronstadt; her special Aunt Eva Vittes; and all
of her in-laws. She is survived by and will be
greatly missed by her adoring daughter Fern
Kushner (Richard) of Newtown, PA; her de-
voted son and daughter-in-law Alan Rosen-
berg and Lynda Delcollo of Newark, DE who
lovingly attended to her through the end of
life; granddaughter Kara Cardinal (Brian) of
Naples, FL; grandsons Zachary Kushner
(Lauren) of Newtown, PA; Scott Rosenberg
and Steven Rosenberg of Malvern, PA; great-
grandsons Sammy Kushner of Newtown, PA
and Kaleb Graham of Millsboro, DE; cousin
Joan Chadbourne of Portland, ME; and es-
tranged sister Deborah Levy (Mel) of
Delaware; plus a multitude of nieces and
