GOLDSTEINS’ ROSENBERG’S RAPHAEL-SACKS www.goldsteinsfuneral.com DEATH NOTICES Bernard Joseph Diamond died at age 85 on Saturday, August 8, 2020. His personality was larger than life and he instantly lit up every room he entered. He had an irreverent sense of humor, and stunning blue eyes that would make anyone fall in love with him. He was the love of MANY ladies’ lives...a bright light to his children, and as a Poppop he was cooler than the average Zayda. He was a lov- er of women, parties, dogs and vodka on the rocks, and could “eyeball” anyone with more accuracy of their weight than a doctors scale. In addition to be an avid golfer, skier and bridge player, he was a star football player for Overbrook High School. He was gradu- ated from Temple University with a Bachel- ors of Science Degree. He is survived by children Barry Diamond, Melissa Samschick, Christopher Diamond, and grandchildren Austin, Cole, and Lucas Samschick, and Samantha and Tyler Diamond, As well as many loving nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his true love Fleurette Gilman Wattenmaker. Anxiously awaiting his arrival are parents Ethel and Nathan Diamond, sis- ter and brother-in-law Esther and Marty Rosenthal, and brother Harold Diamond. As expected, his mother will be waiting for him with his toast butter and Cheerios with milk. Immediately following his snack there will be a “raging” party which will include his many colorful friends who have preceded him in death. As per his M.O., there will be a long line of women waiting and he will surely be uttering the words “How Sweet It Is” GOLDSTEINS' ROSENBERG'S RAPHAEL-SACKS www.goldsteinsfuneral.com COHEN Doris Cohen (nee Green), on August 15, 2020. His Emmy Award-win- ning television career at CBS, NBC, and ABC affiliate stations began at Boston’s WBZ-TV, where he produced and directed primetime news, as well as live and taped children’s programs. He next served at KYW-TV, where he was the technical director of “The Mike Douglas Show,” and worked with an incred- ible array of celebrities, including an infam- ous performance by John Lennon, Yoko Ono, and Chuck Berry. Following a brief stint in Chicago with WLS-TV, Bobby returned to Philadelphia where he produced, wrote and directed the news as well as talk, entertain- ment, sports, and special programs for WCAU-TV, including the beloved “Gene Lon- don Show.” Following his retirement in 2003, Bobby continued to freelance for WCAU, where he worked on their Philadelphia Mu- seum of Art, Franklin Institute, and National Constitution Center special exhibit TV spe- cials. He also directed “Bring in the Holidays at Longwood Gardens” as well as the WJJZ- FM/NBC-10 “Smooth Summer Nights” jazz concerts from Penn’s Landing. His career in television also led him to Cindy, the love of his life, whom he first met in 1984 when she was an audio technician at WCAU-TV. The pair married in 2006 and traveled the world, notably visiting Morocco last year with Old York Road Temple-Beth Am on a Jewish her- itage tour. Bobby learned late in life of his Jewish roots, became fascinated with learn- ing more, and not only converted to Judaism in 2017, but dedicated much of his time to studying Hebrew and immersing himself in his synagogue community. A true Renais- sance man, Bobby enjoyed hobbies includ- ing golf, skiing, ice skating, swimming, sail- ing, yoga, singing, stone sculpting, painting, and gardening. He recently taught himself to play the ukulele and often serenaded family and friends, including his youngest grand- son, who was enamored by it. He also dedic- ated much of his time as a volunteer with a local hospice. Upon his retirement, he was a model and actor, with his face notably seen as a one-story-tall portrait on the side of Jef- ferson University Hospital for an ad cam- paign that lasted more than five years. Bobby is survived by his wife Cindy Garber; daugh- ters Megan Lopez-Cepero and Amy Okazaki (Hiroyoshi); stepdaughters Allison (nee Crad- ic) Rosen (Jeremy) and Dr. Melissa Cradic (Dr. Robert Homsher); grandchildren Brandon McGee (Erica), Kiyomi Okazaki, and Zachary Rosen; sisters-in-law Carol (nee Garber) Steiner (Dr. Rob) and Nancy (nee Garber) Braitman (Arthur); and many dear extended family members and friends. They raised three wonderful, loving and successful chil- dren, Cindy, Leslee and Scott. Claire Mae reveled in their accomplishments and would not necessarily wait to be asked before brag- ging. Later in life, she began a new career as a realtor in Margate, NJ working with Fox and Lazo (Northfield) and Prudential Fox. There she enjoyed her many interactions with her clients, learning their individual stories and helping to fulfill their real estate needs. Claire Mae and Richie always had a deep connec- tion to their Jewish heritage and were active in American Jewish Congress and many syn- agogue committees through the years. They instilled this commitment in their children, who all spent many summers at Camp Ramah in the Poconos, and both daughters taught Hebrew school. This transcended to her grandchildren, who are all raised with deep connections to their synagogues and the Jewish tradition. Everyone who knew Claire Mae will remember her with a smile and a story. They will all comment humor- ously of Claire’s bouffant hairdo, that never changed. She loved to sit and talk and tell tales of her travels around the globe, busi- ness experiences and, of course, her family. She always enjoyed a party and was the joy- ous hostess of many large family gatherings through the years. She was robust and strong willed, having survived two different episodes of cancer, winning the battles with her positive attitude. She is survived by her siblings, Barbara (Bobbie) Segall and Richard Rosen (Henrietta): her children, Cindy Imber (Paul), Leslee Tabas (Richard), Scott Silver- man: her grandchildren, Jessica Imber, Erica Imber, Aaron Imber, Charles Tabas, Richard Silverman , Remick Silverman; her great grandson, Austin Imber; and many dear and beloved nie ces and nephews. Private graveside service will be held for the family.
