SIMKINS TOMKIN
Michéle Rosen (nee Guillotin) of Bal Harbor,
FL and Bryn Mawr, PA passed away on July
29, 2017. Born in LeHavre, France, sister of
the late Christian Guillotin, she was an an-
tique dealer in Cannes on the French Riviera
when she met the late Maurice M. Rosen in
1981. They married in 1983. Michèle be-
came immediately involved in French and
Ameri-can associations, and in 1989, she be-
came president and board member of Alli-
ance Francaise. Her involvement with Ecole
Francaise Inter-nationale de Philadelphie
(EFIP) began when Stanhope Browne, then
Honorary Consul de France in Philadelphia,
presented her with a challenge - to seek
funds from within the city's French com-
munity for the purpose of opening a French
and English bilingual school. In 2004, she
was awarded the prestigious Palmes Aca-
demiques distinction from the French gov-
ernment for her work in education, culture,
and arts. Michèle served on the boards of
Hahnemann Hospital and Samuel Paley Early
Learning Center. She also volunteered and
offered support on various committees, in-
cluding The Institute of Cardiology at Presby-
terian Hospital and the National Organization
for Hearing Research (NOHR). Michèle will
be sadly missed by her stepchildren, Stewart,
Sharon, Cindy, Frank, Robin, Maurisa, Rachel
and Jordana, 15 grandchildren, and 4 great-
grandchildren. In France, she is survived by a
sister-in-law, nephews Eric and Philippe,
stepdaughter Ariane Dandois, stepgrand-
daughter Ondine Rothschild, and stepgreat-
granddaughter Elia Rothschild. Relatives and
friends were invited to Memorial Services,
Wed. Aug. 2, 2017, at 12 noon, Joseph Lev-
ine and Sons Memorial Chapel Int. Roosevelt
Memorial Park. Contributions in Michele's

RAPHAEL-SACKS Leon J. Simkins, age 89, of Bal Harbour Fl.
and Phila., PA. passed away peacefully on
August 2, 2017. Leon was porn in Phila., to
Samuel and Dorothy Simkins on December
15, 1927. A graduate of The Wharton School
of the University of Pennsylvania, Lee was
chairman and president of Simkins Indus-
tries, Inc., a family-owned company founded
in 1901 that pioneered the manufacturing of
recycled folding cartons and paperboard
products. Lee actively participated in funding
medical research. Lee was a long-time mem-
ber of the Board of Governors of the Dia-
betes Research Institute and the Research
Tower in Miami is named after him. He
donated many millions of dollars to this and
other hospitals. He is survived by his wife
Serena; his children Albert,Ron, Michelle,
David and Michael; 27 grandchildren as well
as his brother Morton and his sister Vivian
Lasko and several nieces and nephews.

JOSEPH LEVINE and SONS
ZOSLAW Bernice Zoslaw (nee Berue), 88, passed away
peacefully at Penn Hospice at Rittenhouse on
July 27. Among her many accomplishments,
she conducted interviews of Holocaust sur-
vivors for the Gratz College Archive, tran-
scripts of which will be permanently in-
cluded in the United States Holocaust Me-
morial Museum in Washington, D.C. and at
Yad Vashem in Jerusalem. Zoslaw, known to
her family as Shana, was born the fifth of six
children to David and Bessie Berue of the
Strawberry Mansion section of Philadelphia
on January 20, 1929. She pursued studies at
Beaver College (now Arcadia University),
Gratz College and Temple University. A
lifelong student of Jewish culture and history,
she was also very active in interfaith dia-
logue, working to promote understanding
between Christians and Jews. She had served
as a board member of the Interfaith Council
on the Holocaust, as a member of the Jewish
Community Relations Council and was a Jew-
ish co-leader for a series of inter-religious
dialogues in Abington, Pa. A longtime mem-
ber of Congregation Beth Sholom, Zoslaw
was also a member of Hadassah and ORT
and had volunteered as a Women’s Division
captain for door-to-door solicitations in sev-
eral sections of Abington for the Federation
Allied Jewish Appeal. She is survived by her
three children, Marcia (Ira) Siegal of Phil-
adelphia, Debra (Jim) Vickery of Chalfont and
Jeffrey (Donna) Zoslaw of Manchester, New
Hampshire, as well as a sister, Sylvia Abbott
and her three beloved grandchildren, David,
Eli and Jaclyn. She was preceded in death by
her husband, Bertram, her two brothers, Jac-
ob and William and by two other sisters,
Leah and Florence. Memorial contributions
