GREENBAUM HILDEBRAND
Charles H. Greenbaum, MD, retired Profess-
or of Dermatology, died on April 16, 2021.
Although his chief interest was in patient
care, Dr. Greenbaum was deeply involved in
teaching and organized medicine. He rose to
the rank of Clinical Professor of Dermatology
at Jefferson Medical College, where he taught
for 37 years. At the same time, he was active
in the Phila. Dermatological Society, where
he served as its President in 1976, and as
President of the PA. Academy of Dermato-
logy in 1977, of which he was the founding
secretary. He also served on the Bd. of Dir-
ectors of the Phila. County Medical Society.
Continuing medical education was a special
interest, and Dr. Greenbaum helped devise
and establish the evaluation system of the
American Academy of Dermatology, as well
serving as the Chairman of the Evaluation
Committee. He served as chair of the Advis-
ory Board Council and on other committees
of the AAD and was particularly proud of hav-
ing secured certification for Continuing Med-
ical Education of both his state and city der-
matological societies. Born in Phila. on Feb.
22, 1925, to Dr. Sigmund S. Greenbaum and
Rae Refowich Greenbaum, he was graduated
from Central High School in Jan., 1943, and
enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. Trained as
a Radar technician, he served in the south
Pacific, earning the Good Conduct medal,
American and Pacific Theatre ribbons, and
the Victory ribbon. After receiving an honor-
able discharge in May1946, he attended the
University of PA, graduating with a
B.A.(Chemistry). He entered Jefferson Medic-
al College, and was graduated in 1954. He in-
terned at Phila. General Hospital, and com-
pleted his dermatologic training at the Gradu-
ate School of Medicine of the University of
PA, Graduate Hospital, and the University of
PA Hospital. He married Julia Heimowitz in
1955, following his internship and her gradu-
ation from Bryn Mawr College. He entered
private practice in 1958 and was certified in
Dermatology in 1960. Dr. Greenbaum was a
Senior Attending Dermatologist at Thomas
Jefferson University Hosp., Jeanes Hosp.,
and Holy Redeemer Hosp. He chaired many
committees at Holy Redeemer Hosp., and
served on the Board of Directors, and the Ex-
ecutive Committee of Holy Redeemer Hospit-
al. Dr. Greenbaum was a Fellow of the Phila.
College of Physicians and the American Col-
lege of Physicians, as well as the American
Academy of Dermatology. He was a member
of the American Dermatological Association,
the Society for Investigative Dermatology,
American Medical Association, the PA Medic-
al Society, and the Phila. County Medical So-
ciety, as well as the Dermatology Foundation,
The Pennsylvania Academy of Dermatology,
and the Phila. Dermatological Society. He re-
tired in 1994 from practice and teaching, but
found deep satisfaction in sharing the worlds
of Art, Music, Gardening and Travel with his
wife, Julia, until her death in 2007. Dr. Green-
baum is survived by his children, Dr. Steven
S. Greenbaum (Bettsie W.), Lynne (Dr. Ira
Rubenfeld), and Robert D. Greenbaum, Esq.
(Sharona C.), his grandchildren, Gillian,
Jeremy (Nikko) and Joshua (Julie), and by
his beloved companion Connie Gottlieb, his
sister, Janet Grossman, and many nieces and
nephews and their families. Services and in-
terment were private. Contributions in his

gentle, selfless, and unconditionally kind.

HORWITZ Charles Horwitz, age 75, passed away at the
Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania on
April 13, 2021.Charles was the son of Ben-
jamin and Mae (nee Zumoff) Horwitz. He is
survived by his beloved wife, Judith (nee
Axelrod), their son, William, and his brother,
Mayer (Barbara) Horwitz, Esq. Chuck, as he
was known by family and friends, was an en-
trepreneur. Early in his career, he was a buy-
er of women's fashions for Gimbels and
Wanamakers. Following that, he became the
owner of Ridgeway Stores. After retiring, he
served as a consultant to the fashion in-
dustry, and was a guest instructor at the Phil-
adelphia College of Textiles and Science. He
also became a licensed insurance agent.
Chuck was a graduate of Haverford High
School and Temple University. He had been
an active member of the New Warrior Men's
organization for many years. The family re-

HYMAN HORWITZ
H. Vivianne (Billie) Horwitz, 91, of King of
Prussia, PA, passed away peacefully in her
home on February 19, 2021. She was born in
Pottstown, PA on July 4, 1929 to Morris and
Sally (Laber) Horwitz. She was predeceased
by her sisters Geraldine Forman and Shirley
Woolf. After graduating from high school, Bil-
lie worked for the Philadelphia Board of Edu-
cation, starting in the typing pool and work-
ing her way up to Administrative Assistant for
the Superintendent of Schools. After retiring
from the Board of Education, Billie went to
work for PRIME, a nonprofit philanthropic or-
ganization. Billie was excited and fulfilled by
volunteering her time and energies to vari-
ous nonprofits including serving as a docent
at the Philadelphia Zoo from 1984 until just
before her death. As a docent, she was a
member of or chaired several committees
and particularly loved doing outreach to chil-
dren and juniors. She received awards for
contributing “above and beyond”. In addition
to her zoo docent activities, for 22 years she
volunteered through the Retired Senior Vo-
lunteer Program (RSVP), to Hospice Care,
Historical Society of Montgomery County and
others. Her most recent volunteer activity
was with The Clinic, Healthcare for the Unin-
sured, in Phoenixville, PA, an organization
that was near and dear to her heart. She
loved music, art, theater (Broadway and com-
munity), the Zoo, Eagles, Phillies, and bridge.
She was a world traveler and wherever she
went she made lifelong friends. Her quiet
manner and gentle disposition only en-
hanced her strengths and commanded the re-
spect and love from all who knew her. She is
survived by her nephews Mark Forman
(Cheryl), Mel Woolf (Susan Shermer), and
Jeffrey Woolf whom she loved dearly as ex-
emplified by her email and license plate “ant-
bil”. As an example of her generosity, Billie
had requested that her remains be donated.

Marsha Kamen Hyman, 70, of Cherry Hill,
passed away unexpectedly on Sunday April
11, 2021 while vacationing in Florida. Born in
Salem, she was the daughter of the late Arch-
ie and Bella Kamen (nee Levitsky). She was a
graduate of Salem High School and the Uni-
versity of Pennsylvania. Prior to retirement,
Marsha worked as a dental hygienist. Mar-
sha was adventurous and was always look-
ing for new places to explore. She will be re-
membered for her passion for all outdoor
activities, she loved traveling, hiking and es-
pecially road cycling. She is survived by two
children, Samuel Hyman and his wife Jamie
of Livingston and Samantha Hyman-Pardo
and her husband Carlos of Philadelphia, PA,
three grandchildren, Bella Hyman, Abraham
“Abie” Hyman and Elanora Pardo and a

LEIBOVITZ Sadly, on April 4, 2020, in Maryland, Cheryl
R. Leibovitz, 69, passed on due to a brief ill-
ness. Cheryl was born in Philadelphia, PA,
lived in Baltimore, MD, graduated with a
bachelor’s degree from the University of
Maryland, moved to Washington, DC and
later made her home in Alexandria, VA.
Cheryl was the loving daughter of the late
Sidney Leibovitz of Baltimore, MD and the
late Sylvia (nee Kaplan). She is survived by
her brother, Marc Leibovitz (Naomi
Kaufmann), step-mother, Adrienne (Biren-
Berger), step-sisters Danielle Berger Gorgas
(Kenny) and Victoria Magi Berger and niece
Sidney Alexandra Berger. Cheryl retired from
a long and dedicated career in public service
ten years ago. She worked as a Program
Specialist and her expertise was in the area of
Federal Student Financial Aid. While em-
ployed at the U.S. Department of Education,
Cheryl enjoyed her volunteer work with high
school students seeking her advice and
mentoring as they prepared for university ad-
mission. Cheryl was a mixed media artist and
a talented weaver and jewelry designer. She
was a studio artist at Convergence in Alexan-
dria, VA where she led the Sunset Art Salon
Series for several years and participated in
art exhibits. In recent years, Cheryl taught art
classes at Adas Israel Synagogue in Wash-
ington, DC to both preschool children and
adults. Another passion of Cheryl’s was
theater, attending hundreds of productions
each year. She and a group of friends made
regular trips to New York to see shows on
and off Broadway. Cheryl also supported loc-
al theater, serving as a volunteer and sup-
porter of Arlington’s Signature Theater. She
was a sought-after theater critic who
provided feedback to local theater groups in
the DC area. Cheryl loved her family and
friends and had many feline friends as well.
Cheryl enjoyed domestic and international
travel. Cheryl appreciated the diversity of hu-
manity as her circle of loved ones attests.
Cheryl was an understanding and loving
friend and will be missed by many. Funeral

Bonnie was born on March 5, 1940 in Cam-
bridge, MA and graduated Bryn Mawr Col-
lege with a degree in English literature. A
passionate supporter of the arts, she atten-
ded many galleries, live performances, and
cinemas. She excelled as a senior account
executive with two Philadelphia advertising
agencies before starting, a small graphics
design firm with her late husband. Bonnie
made friends easily and briefly served as a
senior model. With a contagious smile and
laugh, she always lit up the room. Never
afraid to be her own person, Bonnie inspired
others with her energy and love of life. She

LICHTMAN Albert Lichtman, on March 22, 2021. Albie,
son of the late Abe and Norma Lichtman lived
a wonderful life for 89 years. He had a way of
making each person feel like they were spe-
cial and in return everyone loved and felt

adelphia, Pennsylvania on June 18, 1928 and
passed on April 5, 2021. Gerry graduated
from Lower Merion High School in Ardmore,
Pennsylvania in 1946 and attended Ursinus
College in Collegeville, Pennsylvania. In the
fall of 1946, she met the love of her life and
best friend, Dr. Lawrence Robert Ludwig
(Larry). Gerry and Larry married on Decem-
ber 21, 1947 and had their first daughter,
Margaret (Peggy) in 1950 and their second
daughter, Helen, in 1954. In 1960, Gerry and
family moved from Havertown, Pennsylvania
to Blackwood, New Jersey, where her hus-
band opened his own family medical practice.
Shortly after, they moved to Cherry Hill, New
Jersey, and then Haddonfield, New Jersey
where Gerry was a real estate agent from
1981 to 1993. Gerry and Larry then fell in
love with Sarasota, Florida and retired there
in 1993. Gerry enjoyed collecting antiques
and spending time with good friends and her
loving family. She is survived by her daugh-
ters Peggy Ludwig (and husband Michael)
and Helen Ludwig, grandchildren Alexandra,
Anne, and Adam, nephews Gordon, Skipper,
Joseph, and Craig, nieces Margie and Jane,
and grandnieces and grandnephews. She was
preceded in death by her adored husband of
73 years, Larry, her loving parents Celia Co-
hen and Herman Fischer, and her beloved
siblings Evelyn Lief and Martin Fischer. Her
family will always remember her for being
outgoing and sincere, and for her fantastic
taste in art and fashion. Contributions in

2021, of Atlantic City, NJ. Beloved wife of 42
years to Alan Mitchell. Loving mother of Ju-

Marsha was a retired elementary school
teacher. She taught in Philadelphia, PA. After
retirement she took her love for cooking to
the next level and became a culinary wizard.
She was an avid reader and won numerous
contests and awards for her accomplish-
ments. But her first love was for her family.
She was a gentle, non-confrontational gem.

fully on Monday, March 29th just 4 days after
her 69th birthday surrounded by her hus-
band Larry Neff and her daughters Robin
(Jeff) Gaines of Rancho Santa Fe, CA, and
Alisa Gaylon of Chicago, IL. She is also sur-
vived by two adored grandchildren Katie and
Gavin Gaines. A long and arduous battle was
fought against Myleodysplastic Syndrome
Leukemia at MD Anderson hospital in Hous-
ton and again in Boca Raton all to no avail.

ROSEN Martin (Marty) Rosen on April 11, 2021, age
92, died peacefully at home in Wynnewood,
PA, surrounded by his loving family, follow-
ing a brief and valiant battle with cancer. Be-
loved husband of Jeanne (née Kravetz), lov-

Predeceased by his beloved parents Isadore
and Esther, sister, Florence Gordon and
brother, Irving. A proud Logan boy and
graduate of Birney Elementary School, Olney
High School, Temple University and Phil-
adelphia College of Pharmacy and Science.
Former owner of Knorr Street Pharmacy, he
continued in his profession until retiring at
the age of 88. He was loved and respected by
everyone who had the good fortune of know-
ing him. Contributions in his memory may be

REDNER Salomon (Alex) Redner of East Norriton, PA,
passed away on April 4 th , 2021 peacefully in
his sleep. Alex was born on July 9, 1929 in
Lwow, Poland. He survived the Holocaust in
hiding with his parents, Marek and Bron-
islawa Redner, and sister Emilia Redner Po-
lakiewicz, all deceased. He is survived by his
wife of 68 years, Lily Lustig Redner, four
daughters (Isabel Alcoff, Sylvia [Stuart]
Greenstein, Barbara [Jeffrey] Hoffman, and
Francine [Tim] Wilson), nine grandchildren
(Celia Brown, Benjamin Alcoff, Brian Lied-
man, Samual Greenstein, Leah Grumet,
Joshua Hoffman, Rachel Hoffman, Talia
Greenstein, Isaac Wilson), and eleven great-
grandchildren. Alex was a brilliant, success-
ful mechanical engineer and founder/CEO of
Strainoptics, Inc. in North Wales, PA. The
family wishes to express appreciation to the
staff at Brightview Senior Living in East Nor-
